Oyster has nothing to do with strap -- it has to do with the case and that the case is water tight like an oyster shell.
Perpetual means to run for ever. Ofcourse nothing in this universe can do that unless there is constant supply of energy into it. So perpetual means that as long as your hand is moving, the watch will keep running and winding itself. Strap/bracelet is just that strap/bracelet. You can change bracelets to whatever may fit your fancy. |

Hi Cain,
Oyster Perpetual means that the watch is waterproof (Oyster), and has an automatic movement (Perpetual). Oyster also refers to a bracelet style as well - the Oyster is the standard bracelet on most of the range, with only the Datejust, Day-Date and Day-Date II having other options. On the Datejust, you have the choice of both the Oyster and the Jubilee bracelet, whilst on the Day-Date, the President bracelet is the standard choice Hope this helps! Chris |

" Hans Wilsdorf, Rolex’s founder called the watch case an oyster. The term came to Wilsdorf while at a dinner party while trying to pry open an oyster."

Perpetual=, is also "Lasting forever" or " Continually repeated"
Rolex also used " Perpetually " as a form of word in Advertisement when they gave out Perfume Bottles as a promotional item to the Ladies after the Basel Release of the Ladies President. ![]() |
