What is the little design opposits side crown

I've seen a few watches with what looks like...a digital barcode on the opposite of the crown (newer watches only). I have my DJ Duece that doesn't have it, but i've seen the same model (no clue serial number) that does. What are those for/from/purpose?

At first I thought that was the random serial number setup when I first heard that phrase (but have since been edumakated).

Just curious is all.

I guess it could be, but I thought they looked engraved. I didn't look "real" close though at the pictures.

Are you referring to this as the 'bar code' ? If so, then it is on my new 116610lv and honestly I don't know how to decipher that. Looks like it is on the sticker which is yet to be peeled off

Man, doesn't look like a sticker on this one:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ighlight=slate

I take it back...I looked and I guess there is a LOT of plastic around and it could easily be in the plastic.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe not from the camera angle, but that's exactly what it is.

In an inebriated state it got a tattoo.

Fortunately, it is just a stick on tattoo.
