About to buy my first AP royal oak but needed advice from you guys...

I found a AP 25594ST 36MM moonphase watch locally and I am very close to pulling the trigger on it. The owner said they bought it about 5 years ago but never had it serviced and hardly wore it. IT looks mint in the pictures.
It has a white face.. They are at $7000 and are willing to meet me at a AP so I can have it authenticated before handing over the money. Is $7K a fair price for this watch, I see others on Ebay and chrono24 for 8-10K and they look alot older. This watch has the AP clasp with the AP letters so the clasp is AP not the rectangle clasp that alot of them have. How much would it cost to have this movement maintained at AP service center? I tried on a 39MM AP and it was a little too big so I think this 39MM would fit perfect..
What do you guys think about the price and the movement in this watch..
For 7K would I be able to recoup me money if i did not like it and wanted to flip it?

Thank you!!

Anyone....???

Can someone also let me know of a jewler in north NJ that can verify and appraise this AP?
The guy lives in Livingston and I work in Ramsey and he is willing to mee somewhere in NJ for verification.. I would feel alot more comfortable if I had someone look at it before handing over thousands..

Sounds like a great price for a mint one.
A service for this piece would start from 1200USD.

Any pictures of the watch? Make sure all is working well because the service can get pricey if something is really wrong. Read my thread "Things to Consider before buying a pre-owned AP".

I did read your thread and the watch does look mint and I am taking into consideration about 1k for service because it was never done and it is 8 years old. Is this movement a problematic movement? I will make sure it is all running before I take it..

Have it put on a timegrapher to assess movement condition.

Ah another member in the car business. Congrats and good luck with your AP purchase. Price seems reasonable but considering you need a service your at $8k not $7k for the wathc, almost like buying a car you know needs a set of tires. Great clock! Use the normal safe guards:
Take it to reputable place for authentication and inspection, just like you would any used car.
Take into account the repairs/services need to make the watch proper

Also, does the watch speak to you? Is it what you really want? There are many options in that price range so make sure it's your best bang for your buck. Good luck. Let us know how you make out and pics!

I have always wanted a AP royal oak but 39MM was too big for my wrist..
I had a chance to snag a 15470 36mm for $7200but I really like the face on this one better..

i can't get the pics to work ..

Beautiful! Try to work on the price so you have more room in case the service turns out to be higher than expected. Watch looks to be in very good condition and it's a stunner. Good luck!

I know it is a really clean piece and a great price.. Every other one I see even with the old style bracelet are going for 9k and up..
The numbers on the book match the back of the watch the dealer is also still open and still a ap dealer.. Do u think the dealer still has the watch sale on file if I call them..?

Btw.. What does. ah another member in the car business mean?

I would imagine that they keep records of their sales especially on high ticket items like that. They probably could verify purchase if you called them and gave them the info.

I manage a Honda dealership in South Jersey.

I called the store and they verified that the watch was sold to the guy that is selling it to me so unless he took the movement out and put in a different moonphase movement then I am set.. He is comming to my work at 7:30 PM

Bit strange procedure by the store giving away that kind of information

But congrats in advance if it all checks out

Doesnt seem like a bad deal to me. I would try to get them down a little more becase of you having to immediately have it serviced. Either way, nice watch and I would get it if I was you.

just picked it up for $6500 and it is in nice shape..
the one you posted looks older and does not have the AP clasp or box and papers..So all in all I think I did OK.. I know it will prob need service soon but i am just going to wear it for now and see how it keeps time...
when you send it in for service does AP polish it out and make it look brand new like rolex does?

Congrats!!! You got yourself a great deal. When it goes in for service you'll have the option to have the watch refinished. They do an amazing polishing job at AP. Just look at my 5402 that came back from a major overhaul in August. My watch is 36 years old (first batch of Royal Oak two tones).

Nice do you mind me asking how much was the overhaul with polishing because your watch is stunning looks brand new!!

Was that the 1st service that you ever had done on the watch??

Mr H, your two tone is just stunning. The gold on grey is so impressive and subtle.

I know you had the dial changed -- I presume the original had the old style (sans serif, small) Audemars Piguet typeface. Can they only do new dials in the new style typeface?

Cheers

Mark

Here's the story on my watch. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...highlight=5402

I paid $2,800.00 for the overhaul.

The original dial indeed had the small sans serif font. Here's a picture of the before.

It's beautiful both ways. I didn't realize AP used the new typeface dial when they replace a dial on the older models, but it makes sense now I think about it. I'm glad they returned the original to you.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Wow great Story about your Jumbo.. Like they say if you love it let it go and if it comes back then it was meant to be... That watch looks brand new..
Hopefully mine will not be $2800 to get it to its glory,...
I realized these cases and bezel scratch VERY easy so i will wear it a few months and see how its running and then send it in for the full service and polish..
could I take it to NYC or do u suggest sending it to Switzerland?

Mine was so expensive because it's a vintage piece and it definitely needed major love on the inside. Yours should be within the $1200 range.
