Royal Oak Extra Thin 39mm

I see a lot of talk about the new royal oak 15400, the discontinued 15300 and the sought after 15202. However I dont see any thread talking about the Royal Oak extra thin 39mm 40th anniversary. Is this a extremely exclusive edition? or just nobody cares about it? it comes with a different rotor (its not the same as the 15202 nor 15300) and it comes only in blue dial color. What's up with this model? it looks exactly as the 1972 model and it is gorgeous.

Heres a pic from AP website

http://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wat...T.OO.1240ST.01

Thanks a lot guys for enlighten me.

Oh, and it has the AP logo at 6 o clock and two batons at 12

No Yoda, the 15305 is the openwork edition. Im talking about the extra thin that only comes in blue and is identical to the 1972 one.

Yes that's the newly revised 15202. Almost identical to the old 15202 except a few minor tweaks. As such it's a regular production piece (albeit limited volume) that's hitting stores already.

Not to highjack but I want the RG version 15202 SO bad but the $60.1k retail price is giving me heartburn. Even discounted, there are several other pieces in the same price range that I want.

Have you tried it on? The bracelet and case in rose are beautiful, but I didn't like the pairing of the rose with a blue dial in person. I though it looked better in the photos. They probably should have done the rose with a black dial...but thats just my 2 cents.

Yeah, the blue dial looks better in steel. Probably what's kept me from pulling the trigger. If they released it in black or white dial... I guess the old version is an option but I like the new bracelet update.

With a black, white, or silver dial it would be a killer watch! Or if they did it in YG with a blue dial it might work. But the RG with a blue dial just didn't look right to me.

Bienvenido. Yo también soy de Mexico pero vivo en USA.

It's actually the new revised 15202 Jumbo. It's still quite different to the original 5402SA from 1972 but still gorgeous and as close as you can get. Here's a pic of the 5402.

The new 2012 15202 was already at Boutiques as of this past May. I put down a deposit and ordered mine through an AD this past August. I love the watch. I was trying to decide watch watch to get to re-enter AP ownership with, but after trying one on I knew it was the right choice.

Best regards,
Dino

Here is a quick photo. I have a few photos that are better but I have to upload them.

Same here I re entered AP ownership with the 15202 .. After a bunch of offshores that never seem to click with me I decided to go back to the roots of the royal oak

Great idea, going back to the RO's roots. Offshores are nice, but some how I've never really connected with them. For me, the 15202 is simply beautiful and is my absolute favorite modern RO.

The rg RO had a lot of potential. I thought it would look great in person, but the rose with blue looks almost lifeless in person and IMHO just doesn't work. I was actually thinking about what other companies have paired with rose (in addition to black, white/silver, cream) and VC successfully paired dark brown and slate gray, both of which look great with the rose. Cartier has done a chocolate brown that looked handsome with rose. In addition, Rolex has offered a sort of rose colored dial on Daytonas and Day-Dates that are rose (rose isn't my first choice of dials but it works). Oh well, perhaps AP has done you a favor and saved you some grail money to use on another piece.

No offense to the 15202 but as far as the 39mm RO's went, the 15300 was the one. Seeing them next to each other, I can't help but think the 15300 has more presence, though I can't explain why.

Yes, the 15300 has been discontinued and replaced by the 15400.

The 15300 is a thicker case and bracelet than the 15202. The current 15202 is pretty close to the original RO in terms of design and carries the legendary 2120 movement. Both are beautiful. I've tried the 15300, 15400, and 15202 and each has its advantages but for me there is no substitute for the "Jumbo."

If you want to buy a new 15300 act now while there are still a few out there.

I believe it's the Cal.2121. The 2120 is the non-date movement.
