I blame Ikea for my broken watch...!!!
My Tudor submariner 7928 from 1966 is now making noises, the rotor is rubbing on something inside and making a bad sounds...
How did this happen, my wife asks me, hey can we got to Ikea to pickup a nice bookshelf, and I say yes. So today I put the bookshelf together and forget to take off my nice vintage 7928 tudor. The construction of the desk using some basic hammering was enough to break my watch-- damm... The only saving grace here is that my friend has a NOS cal.390 movement sitting in his box watch parts. I will pay him a visit and ask for repair help, or a complete swap out of movements... Word to the wise, remove your vintage 1960's watch when you pickup a hammer....

hmm.. hammering shouldn't have been enough to damage the internals. maybe it was just the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak.
good luck with the fix! |

Hey Thanks, the guy who sold me the watch is the same guy who has a treasure of spare parts/movements... He's already fixed it for me twice... once when I opened it as cause a problem, then again when it stopped...
The Al of the 1990's would have been furious, aged has calmed me down, i will get it fixed, get a new movement, no big deal... The best part is the wife really likes the new large book case I put together. So no problem here... Though I don't want to go to Ikea again...

Maybe you should ask someone else to service the movement for you.

don't you wear your watch on your left hand and use the hammer in the right hand? Unless it was a direct hit, you should not have had any issues. I leaning to agree with the previous comment, maybe you should get a new watchmaker

I am confused. So you live on the CA coast and you own a Tudor sub. So right away I think you are a cool guy. Why would u buy something at ikea? I am not a fan except the meatballs in the cafeteria

That's a workhorse movement, if you get a NOS swap out, I think you'll get a lot of use out of it. I purchase one Billy myself once. Five weeks and collapsed under the weight of my paperbacks. The wood-like substance gave out! Never a bookshelf from Ikea, ever again. The new spareribs are almost as much fun as the meatballs. I love the housewares.
