Fantastic pics!
It really looks to me like the thinner profile of the Jumbo's case/bezel vs the deeper profile of the 15300 case/bezel makes the Jumbo's dial look a couple millimeters wider than the 15300. Do you guys find that too?

I'm totally shocked by it. If the 15300 is 39mm, it's like the 15202 looks about 41mm (or conversely if the 15202 is 39mm, it's like the 15300 is 37mm) when they're side-by-side. (I realize both are actually 39mm.)
To me this is one of the most salient differences between the appearance of the two, when looking at them from a few feet away. But I haven't seen much talk about it.

Look what I got to do! 15300 on the left, 15202 on the right. (sorry for the bad pic.) We all know that the 15300 looks beefier, but as a result of the beef, look at how much wider the 15202 dial looks. And when I hold up a ruler to the screen, the 15300 dial is actually slightly wider in the pic (prbly closer to the camera) -- such an optical illusion. Really amazing that two 39mm pieces wear so differently.

Really depends on your tastes. Do you need a quick set date or second hands? Do you prefer slimmer more classic design? Can't go wrong with either but my money would be on the 15202.

The white dial with second hand appeals the strongest I guess, but I'm torn on the two styles of gold rotor in the display back.... Both are stunning... Which does your have mike?

When you wear the watch, you don't see the rotor so IMO that's peripheral. Now the dial color is a critical factor. On that basis I'd get the 15x00 white dial or an older jumbo with white dial.

Thanks of the info and pics mike, I agree the case back is not really seen when wearing it, but I'd love to look at the movement when I can, albeit in photo as none of mine have display backs at the mo... Do you have both models mike ?
I must admit I'm leaning towards the white dial..... But I do love the decorative rotor of he 15300. Decisions decisions !!

You need to own both to truly appreciate each one to the fullest.

Mike.... You are not helping!!!!
But seriously, they are very reasonably priced compared to the ROOs ... I might sell my beloved Breitling to help fund the 15300

How is the hue of the blue? Is it darker/flat looking in dim settings but more vibrant/pop in the light/sun? Been thinking of getting the RG version (have the "older" RG 15202 w/ white dial currently).. but not sold on the blue.

Stupid question, but what is a Jumbo? A Royal Oak that is 39mm? I assume the 15400 isn't considered a Jumbo?

A Jumbo is a 5402 model that was introduced in the early 70s. In 2012 AP made a model that is very close to the original - the 15202.

Here is a very well written article on the subject.

A Jumbo is a Royal Oak with the 2121 caliber movement (the movement from the very first Royal Oak back in 1972). They're often called the ultra-thin Royal Oak, since they're a couple mm thinner than the 15300s and 15400s. There's always one self-winding Royal Oak reference in the current AP offerings that has this movement, the current version is the 15202. There are other distinctions between Jumbos and 15300s/15400s, but that's probably the most predominant distinction. (Experts, let me know if I'm off on any of this.)
