Forged Carbon Diver NOT Discontinued?

That is part of Howard's report over on timezone.

I asked directly and he confirmed.

Is this the new consensus?

I'd be happy if it's still in production.
But if it does get discontinued, the ceramic version is not too bad too.
Love the ceramic crowns...

I love the ceramic but prefer the yellow. Anybody know anything more about this?

I'm getting mixed messages. I had also confirmed with Howard that the FC Diver was discontinued. Maybe he meant after 2013? Either way, I've definitely heard that the intent is to eventually phase out the FC models in favor of ceramic.

I wonder if that means a new all ceramic Bee??

Gotta see it with my own eyes before making any comments on this one though, have anyone here seen the real deal?

Sorry if our conversation was confusing, Mike. They are not discontinued.

Interesting. I admit it seemed odd that they would only discontinue one of the forged carbon models. However, it also seemed like it was 100% clear that the diver was to be discontinued as I think many of us asked for confirmation.

If anyone gets anything more on this please let us know. Thanks...

so wait let us recap
besides the limiteds: alinghi, grand prix, jarno trulli
add the bumblebee as lp

the only "standard" roos that had fc were
the two 44 chronos
and the yellow diver?

My dealer has just returned from SIHH and has said that the forged carbon models remain in the ROO lineup. The ceramic versions are additional models not replacement models.

Maybe they will be releasing ceramic Bee?

Well I am not buying anything before at least may this year, thats when I go back to the US.

The dust should have settled by then, hopefully.

Yup, that seems to be the general consensus -- one more year of forged carbon, and then nada.

While I'm still going full-tilt towards an FC Diver, this does give folks a bit more breathing room, though not much -- remember, these watches were never made in large amounts, and with the writing on the wall, I have every reason to believe that they will be in even shorter supply than before. This goes for ALL forged carbon-cased APs, btw, not just the Diver.

Bottom line: If you want FC, get crackin'.

Regards,
Adam

Adam,
Do you think even the Bee is on the block even without a ceramic replacement announced?

Sure seems that way. From what I've heard, forged carbon in general is being phased out. Does this mean that we'll see a ceramic Bumble Bee? Maybe, maybe not.

Regards,
Adam

If the FC is discontinued after this year, what about replacement middle casings should the watch require it in the future? How long does AP stock replacement FC cases?

I'm sure they'll still use FC for LE/SEs. AP still has all the castings and tools to produce more parts as necessary.

They will support replacement FC parts forever..

Ive noticed the improvements made to FC over the years, from molding to finish.. in its current state with H serials it is perfect IMO. Compared to G series it seems harder and more matte whereas previous ones seemed more porous and grew more shiny over use.

Its a shame if it isn't used in newer models as it has all the properties desirable for a case

That's good to know/hear !!! Mine is under warranty for like 5 more years anyway lol, could care less..

My G serial however looks matte and like new and I wear it a lot ! So don't know the comparison well

AGREED BRO.... They better just leave it be and let it discontinue, not make another version of it with a similar name (ceramic BEE) NO WAY !

And yes they say the Bumblebee is limited production..

Anyway, in Orange would be pretty cool, would be too similar to the Lava piece though.
