Pic of the SS GMT IIc clasp.

Some of you may remember that we discussed the significance of the "15/423" code (I believe that was the code?) on the underside of Mike's SS GMT IIc clasp.

It seems that this code (whatever it stood for) is no more issued on the SS GMT IIc clasps, but I also noted the the bracelet reference number is ALSO not engraved on it anymore:

It would interest me to know what the underside of the bracelet of SS GMT IIc owned by fellow members looks like (either pics or just a description).

I have no 78200 on mine. Just 15/423 and OP2 (as far as numbers anyway).

Where's Ironstark? Maybe he would know the answer.

Interesting!

Mine's an M-serial 2728XX.

I believe that maybe the "15/423" code is determined by COUNTRY (watch destination). And speaking of country, the country code is not issued on the CCC's for Rolex watches destined to the USA.

Also, note that apparantly the "15/423" code has not changed since Mike bought his SS GMT IIc (which is long ago). Could indicate that the code has nothing to do with "date" or "number of production", but is a FIXED code for _something_ (and my guess is that it is some sort of country code).

Would be interesting to see if any non US owners have the same clasp as mine.

On my Z serial TT GMT IIc it shows the 15/423 stamp underneath the OP6 date. It's a watch bought from a US AD

A D serial YG GMT Green dial also shows the 15/423 on the clasp. Apparently it's not related to the actual clasp itself as it is the same for the SS, TT and YG. I found a reference that the 15/423 relates to the saphire crystal but I dont know how accurate that statement is.

Not really.....

OP = 2006

EO = 2007

The number after the letters is the month of the year....EO2 would be 2007 Feb...and so on.

Just phoned my other AD.

It gets more and more strange!

HIS SS GMT IIc says "EO2" (February 2007), but does have the "15/423" code, too!

But there is NO "78200" code (bracelet/clasp ref. #) on the clasp (also not on mine), but the 78200 code is on the small Oyster Swimmpruf sign and on the outer cardboard sleeve.

Does YOUR clasp say 78200?

I am awaiting a call from the AD I bought the SS GMT IIc from if the GMT IIc in SS that he still has in the window display says "15/423" or not.

Anyway, my theory that the 15/423 code could have something to do with the country destination just blew up since the one I phoned about does have it and the watch was shipped to Denmark.

Another guess it that Rolex has omitted that code later on (later than at least February!), since my clasp has a September 2007 code.

I would really like to know what this is all about!

Bo haven´t you learn yet?

Rolex do this kind of stuff as soon you think you have crack the
code. So next year you will get a 5 years old watch from your AD.
