AD Service + Warranty

Hi folks, an AD that I bought from this week has offered me a free "full service" 5 years after purchase, after which I'll have another 2 years warranty. I'm calling in again this weekend so will be asking a few things like; confirmation that this is their own extended warranty? Is it likely that this isn't a Rolex service?

My question to the forum is, if it isn't a Rolex service are there any issues with someone else doing the service?

FYI the watch is a SubC Date and the AD is Wempe (Rolex boutique)

Thanks as always for any help!

Seems like a pretty decent offer.

Wempe have been around a long time and are likely to be still trading in 5 years time.

Keep all your docs safe and place a marker in your diary.

Rolex warranty is only two years. Anything beyond that is AD. As long as it's a Rolex certified watchmaker, there should be no issue in having them do service work. It's really a question of if it's acceptable to you or not.

With Omega giving a 4 year warranty and now Breitling offering 5 year warranties on their in house movements, Rolex needs to increase their warranty coverage to compete.

$40,000,000 in marketing can only take you so far. This is one of the reasons why Rolex does not allow other brands to be sold next to their watches in AD's, they just don't want people to know what else is out there.

My AD gives a extra year of coverage when I buy from them, but I have never had to use it.
