Hello everyone! I hope everything is going great since the New Year!

My wife recently bought a brand new Rolex DateJust from an AD around Xmas. She got a good deal for the watch because the store said they had it for awhile and they wanted to move it. I (Rolex newbie... not even own one yet

) hope someone here can help answering these 2 questions since I don't have any answers for my wife:

1. In the Rolex box that came with new watch, there is only a factory service instruction paper (inside the hard case folder) but there is no watch instruction manual. I can understand if they say they misplaced the instruction manual, but they insisted that the Rolex doesn't come with an instruction manual. Could this be true? It is hard to believe that.

2. There is no warranty card in the box. When I asked about it and they told me that Rolex will send it to me in 40 days. The reason they explained was because they need to be sure that we won't return during the return period before they have Rolex issues the card to my wife's name. Does this sound OK to you? How can I be sure she is the first owner of the watch.

First off, welcome and congrats to your wife on a great purchase.

I presume she got it at a current Authorized Distributor and not one who had lost their AD status. Also would suggest speaking to the owner vs. a counter sales rep.

There should be booklets in the box along with your warranty card. Some ADs hold the card for a little time if they have a "no questions asked" 30 day return policy. But Rolex doesn't send the card to you, the AD provides it to the customer.

If they won't provide you with the appropriate booklets, call Rolex HQ and ask them to explain why the AD withheld them.

Those things should not have happened. As 77t mentioned, check to see what the AD status is with Rolex. You can start by going to Rolex.com and searching to see if the AD is located in their database. Hope it works out for you. Keep us posted.

Sounds like Mayors!

No problem waiting for warrantee card. A lot of chain stores do this due to moving watches from one store to another due to customer request.

Many of the Mayor's here dropped the Rolex line due to low sales - at least that's their version of the story...

Sending the warranty card after the return period has passed is done by several dealers so nothing to worry there. I am surprised they didn't provide the date just booklet.

Thank you everyone so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I just sent an email to the salesperson to confirm there is such an instruction manual that comes with each Rolex. I asked if she could help me to locate it or order from Rolex as an AD.

Other than that, my wife loves her Rolex very much. I bought for her a watch-winder but most of the time it was turned off. :)
