Rolex President Question
Hello guys!
Oportunity to purchase, great price, but lacks information. Looking good, with RSC papers, known seller. Can someone tell year and the name of that bezel/bracelet? Appreciate your thoughts. |

The bezel and bracelet have what is called a bark finish. It is a genuine finish that was done by Rolex. Many people dislike the design, but some love it.

It looks great indeed, but anyone got a wrist shot? Is it 'single quick set' ? ty |

Bark finish....really cool
Was going to get one but my wife surprised me with a regular finish Lapis dial DD as a wedding gift. It was popular in the 80's. the watch looks to be in very nice shape. If you like the design then you should get it.

I don't think the value on those DD change too much between them.
The seller does have another one, for the same price... With the regular bracelet and a slightly different dial, but it looks a little more used and with no RSC papers. What do you think? |

It's been over polished. The bracelet crown is too soft and some of the bracelet edges are rounded. But that's a gorgeous linen dial!

I believe the bark finish Rolex watches were only made in the 80s and 90s and not since.

Looks to me like a model 18078 from the 80s. Make sure it has all the links. They can be hard to find.

Yes, the seller said "All links included". I'll try to sell them later ( or see if he wants to lower the price if I give him those links ) because I have small wrists.

G with the bark. I did back when simply because I liked it more and it seemed as though every other President DD I saw was not bark. Now, they have a seemingly more uniqueness to them given their relatively short tenure and discontinued status.
Beware however, that bark in soft 18K dings easily. Needless to say, it's not my every day driver and do not wear it when working on the car, in the shop, on the boat, mixing cement, chopping wood or even mixing drinks with square ice cubes!

Get the first one with the bark bezel and papers. Much more collectible and really beautiful.

A bark question please.
Most of the bark DD's I have seen are champagne dials. Were there limited dial choices or was that just the more popular choice? |

Bark signal received!!!
Bark Signal Received!!
There were many dial choices... even wood! The champagne dial can be a bit hard to read once the lume is gone, but it makes for a really gorgeous look. You just have to angle it a bit and you can differentiate the hands and batons.

I too had a choice between a bark and a non-bark. Happily, I chose the bark 18248 double quickset version. I LOVE it! Some say it looks dated I say it looks unique! GO BARK!!!!

I saw a barked President on Bob's Watches last week. Barked bezel and barked center links. I'm looking at the fluted bezel yellow gold Rolex watches, so I didn't pursue it.
