Icon11 Rolex and the Tanning Bed

Laugh it up. Yeah, go ahead...

Serious question though -- is it bad for the dial's finish or the superlume?

LOL, yeah...

However, if I forget and wear my watch to the gym, I don't want to take it off when I get in the bed. Yeah, it's a single bed in a single room with a lock on the door, but you know...it's my ROLEX we're talking about here, not my wallet.

Tanning beds do not give off as intense radiation as a day outdoors. An hour on the beach is much more intense than 20 minutes in a tanner.

I seriously doubt that it would have any noticable affect on your watch..

Some counterfieters do bombard dials with very intense Uv and IR light and heat to artificially "age" them.. Tanning beds are pretty tame by comparison here too..

I get in maybe, maybe 12-15 times a year. I've got a pool! I like to die a natural death!

Chris, you need to go to the VA hospital and cheer people up! That's funny! Talk about seeing the silver lining!

PS - In all seriousness, that was a good question ... I agree about not going to the tanning bed too much, but a few times a year is ok and helps me from getting my butt burned the first time I'm in the sun.

God bless all in the Armed Services and their families during Christmas.

But the whole idea is protection from the sun, too - getting a tan is no protection. Any tan is damage that potentially causes cancer. Sorry, I've been reading too many of my husband's dermatology journals. Scary stuff - and the rates of skin cancers are skyrocketing. Sunscreen... it's healthy to be pale. Pale is where it's at! Besides, if concerned about your appearance, you'll look much younger in years to come if you've protected your skin with sunscreen.

Those little boogers couldn't find a tanning bed if you gave them a GPS and tied it in a big, red bow!

Oh no. Here we go. Fight's on.

They go to bed early, but they get up early too. Normally do more than I do all day by 0900. At least that's what they claim in the ads.

I learned long ago to never get involved when you Marines get in a spat over your tan lines, pedicures and such so I'll just stay out of this one.

Oh, you guys! Please stop using those awful tanning beds! Melanoma is not a good way to go.... though I guess you could argue you'd at least sport a healthy glow at your open casket funeral.

Seriously guys, ditch the tanning beds! UV will give you skin cancer and any cancer is really a drag. I speak from experience as CEO of a company that manufactures UV devices for life science research.

Don't hate me I am not your mother, a relative of mine is a Dermatologist as a child he converted me to the idea of using sun screen SPF as high as possible. He told me to watch my friend’s mothers who were always tanning. He said watch what happens to their skin over the years. Thirty years later, these women look like used hand bags really nasty. Two of which have had skin cancer. One woman had it on her ear and had to have ½ of her ear removed to stop the spread of cancer. Please read up on melanoma and see how nasty it is. Someone I cared about deeply died to melanoma skin cancer please don’t follow in her foot steps.

Tanning beds have worse U.V. rates and cause more damage than the sun. In my State Skin cancer is the second leading cause of death, please don't become a number. I honestly care about you that’s why I said something. I am sorry if I offended you or anyone with my preaching I just care life is too short to get cancer.

Being tan has been an indicator of social status or desirability for a long time. Only in the past, it was the NON-tan that were regarded as wealthy and desirable. Logic being that they made enough money that they didn't need to work out in the sun.

It's only very recently---few decades ago---that the order has flipped and the deadly has become the desirable...

So, go in the tanning bed, take a friend, & don't turn the lights on.
That way, no skin cancer + some exercise = Win, Win, Win.
