From SS Daytona to Royal Oak?
Hi, I need your thoughts on this. The SS Daytona has long been a grail for me and I got the white ss daytona two years ago at my local AD. I did enjoyed it for a while but it hasn't been I expected it to be as my number one watch ( like my daily beater) My go to watch. I've been looking at the royal oak 15400(black or white dial) as a replacement. My collection consists of the Pam 233, TT datejust, SS Daytona, Hublot BB and Plat DD. Part of me whats to keep the daytona and part of me wants to flip it just to get the royal oak.People say AP over Rolex anyday. Need your thoughts on this one? thanks

I would keep the Daytona and flip the Hublot or the DJ for the AP.

Which Royal Oak are you referring to? If the RO, perhaps the Datejust instead. If the RO Offshore, then the Daytona SS and the Hublot. But from what I heard, Hublot doesn't command good resale value, which is why they are heavily discounted when brand new.

Hublot looks cool but the movement isn't respected.
Regarding the 15400, I am very happy with mine. I'll catch people that do not know about watches staring or asking about it. The dial is very attractive and the bracelet... well, put it on and you'll realize the attention to detail. It's a very elegant, sporty and exclusive watch. Can't find this type of attention on a Rolex. |

From your collection I'd drop the Hublot; if you like it more than the daytona, then flip the daytona.

I can't sell the dj for sentimental reasons.the Hublot I got it for a great deal and it's my favorite good daily beater. My Initial thought /plan is to flip the daytona right now and get the royal oak and in the future will plan to get a daytona again in white gold black racing dial.
@Alex_NYC - Yes,the 15400 (any dial) is very classy and sporty at the same time. |

Yes, get rid of the Hublot. RO will replace it as your daily wearer :-)

I've never been a fan of Hublot. Although I quite like some of the latest models I would never buy one as they just copy AP to save money on designs of their own.
You have a great watch collection already but I would trade the Hublot before the Daytona as the Daytona is always going to hold steady money wise whereas the Hublot's value is only going one way - and faster than Felix Baumgartner. |

The message seems pretty clear and consistent. At least on this forum ;)
Cheers! |

Looks like many people here moved on from Daytonas to APs. I did the same thing and never looked back. What I have noticed, which is kind of trivial, is that how much I use the date function on my watches. Maybe that is why I never wear the Daytona as much as I thought I would. Just my 2c.

I've been wearing my white Daytona for a couple of days now. Still love it. The quintessential chrono IMO.
I have a feeling that it is one watch I will always want to have in addition to an AP. |

Flip the Daytona and give the RO a go. Easy enough to sell the AP and go back to a Daytona if it doesn't work out
