Greetings From a new guy, and an observation...
Greetings All,
New to the boards, though I have been perusing for some time. It would appear, like myself, several here start with a date-just, and move along from there. My S/S DJ started another collecting habit, that has resulted in 3 Rolex in 3 years, and I have this years prospect lined up... What was your first experience that persuaded you (or someone) to get you that first Rolex? Me? my wife seemed to purchase a new watch for me every other year, though she always noticed I'd glance at the Rolex. First year anniversary gift from my better half was my S/S DJ. That was it for me... Hooked on them since.... Nice to be here, and look forward to contributing D- |

I wanted a Rolex most of my adult life. Finally bought a pre-owned GMT when I was in my forties. Wore that daily for close to 20 years. The itch for a new one was still there and then I discovered TRF! The itch was scratched to the tune of three new watches this year, a new Sub/date, a TT datejust, and a SS Daytona. Be afraid, be VERY afraid!

I recently bought my first Rollie soon after watch shopping for my girlfriends Christmas present. It gave me the bug big time and I ended up with the GMT IIc. I had been wanting a new watch anyway to go with my 5 year old SMP, but once I saw the new GMT is was over in about a week. I got a good deal, so that helped. I'm lovin' it so far! I'll try to wait a while before taking the plunge on another.

I wanted a Rolex watch ever since childhood. Thought it was out of reach until just recently, really. Always keep your eye on the prize!!!

I bought my first Rolex when I was in my early 20's (I'm turning 50 this year). All of a sudden I was making good money (for that time) and I saw a Rolex in the window of Tourneau NYC and bought it. I think at that time it was about $1100 for a ladies ss datejust and I paid cash for it. I've had several since then and have 6 now plus other fine watches.
I still have a want list and it seems to grow just hanging around here. This forum certainly makes you want more watches. Enjoy!

Welcome to TRF!
Actually, I bought my first Rolex, an SS Sub Date, on an impulse back in 1989. Since then I have had quite a few watches, some bought on impulse, some being ordered as models I desire.
