Hi everyone - 1st post & 1st Rolex
Hi guys,
Excited to be making this my first post; Hope this is the right place for it :/ I've been lurking for a little while, finally joined last week and I am glad to be a part of the community with the purchase of my first Rolex. Would love your opinions on it. I am thinking of putting a different leather band - ideally a thicker medium-padded Alligator leather in dark brown. Need some advice here. I know the $299 one at Tourneau isn't the only option as I have read some others getting nice ones at smaller/local watch stores for much less. So far, thats the nicest I have seen in person by far though... |

Nice watch. You should be able to find a nice strap for $100, or less. Croc is available for about $60, if you shop around, and alligator for $100. I'd look for a strap that is about 3.5mm thick at the lugs and matte or semi-matte. Croc often comes in a gloss finish, which is fine if you want the dressy look.

Nice DJ!
I purchased an IWC style croc strap from The Watch Boys a couple years ago for around $115. It's been a great strap and still in excellent condition, so I'd say they are worth a look. You can get 3 colors: black, brown, and tan, with either matching or contrasting stitching. |

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and the advice on the strap. My search, and reply to this thread, got a little interrupted this week with my traveling but back to the mission this weekend!
I definitely know this is going to become quite the addiction, already eyeing up future purchases. I am fond of the DJ for exactly the reasons mentioned by all above - clean and classic. Could easily see myself picking up a few different options in the DJ. Although I think my next may be the root beer GMT. |
