JLC Master Control Auto or Glashutte Senator Auto

Hi everyone, I have really got myself in a knot trying to choose between these two. Both pieces have met my broad criteria; I'm looking for a dress watch on leather not exceeding 40mm in a gold case.

I slightly prefer the dial of GO overall. I'm not a fan of the GO's hands but I would rather not have the date function/window on the JLC. To compound the dilemma, the JLC costs about $1000 singapore dollars or $800 usd over the GO.

I'm not sure if theres any "real value" difference between these two given their pedigree. Anything else anyone could point out to help differentiate between the two would be appreciated!

Both are beautiful and you really can't go wrong with either. That being said, I like the dial on the MC better than the GO.

Both beauties. But I'd chose JLC

I agree with you on two things:
1)I dont want a date on my dress watch
2)im not crazy about the hands on the glashutte

Imho: the hands are perhaps the most important detail of any watch,in my experience, if i dont like the hands the watch doesnt stand a chance.

All said, i like the look and pedigree of the JLC, i could over look the date, but not those hands.

I think if your patient you will find something that is perfect for you... I look forward to seeing it as it may likely appeal to me as well

Haven't tried the GO on but the JLC is a bit boring on the wrist...

if these are your two options, it seems like you clearly prefer the GO.

Since the GO doesn't have date or second hand I would pit it against the JLC ultra thin, which would be the winner IMO.

JLC in either case, but the newer Master Control (introduced last year) has dauphine hands and a less blocky bezel & is the best looking of the 3 options IMO.

I'd get the GO. There are other JLC models I like better.

I would go for the JLC. I love the date window, and I'm a fan of the brand. The glashutte's case is more "rugged" with sharper edges especially on the cutoff of the lugs. I would prefer the JLCs overall aesthetic when you look at it.

However I would agree that the GO dial looks more "balanced" and cleaner without the date window.

Any reason why you're looking at the older versions of these two fine pieces? Here are the latest iterations of the GO and JLC:

Having tried on the GO, I would go with GO between these two. It just has a quality that is lacking on the JLC, which feels too plain in comparison, IMHO. Do try them on if you can.

I have two JLC Master control series watches.

I also have two GO senators with the 100 series movements

IMHO the GO is a better watch by some margin.

I do love they JLCs also, but overall, no contest.

This GO would be my choice if made one of the options. Of the original two choices the OP listed, I actually favor the JLC, however, this newer iteration of the GO is stunning. It favors the ALS Richard Lange quite closely, IMO.

Both excellent choices. I like the newer Master Control better but both GO's are very nice.

I'd probably go for the GO -- old or new version. As much as I like the Master Control, it has always been the watch I would buy if I couldn't afford a Patek 5296R, which I can't ;-)

Looks like JLC has a slight advantage despite the price difference.
