My First!

I've been researching and searching for a while now. I wasn't quite sure how to even pick a first...there are so many great options!

Some of the details that I knew were that I wanted lug holes and I wanted tritium. I finally decided between an early 90's 16570 or a 1016 (I like the idea of flying under the radar). I was definitely leaning toward the 16570 (lower price and more plentiful), but then found a local deal on the 1016 a couple days ago that I couldn't resist.

I thought hard about it for about 2 days, but there were a few details that just clinched it for me.. Good price, birth year watch, recently serviced, very clean, matching hands/dial, light "egg shell" patina, original end-links and bracelet... need I go on? The stars seemed to have aligned, so I pulled the trigger.

I talked to the jeweler on the phone 3 times in 2 days asked a bunch of questions, compared it to pics here on TRF and to a reference book, then finally jotted down a bunch of notes on details to check in person... comparing dial font to the age/serial, bracelet/EL codes, etc.

Long story short, I was happy! I've got 14 days to be sure I'm satisfied with the purchase. What do you guys think?

Love it around the Blantons. Fine watch and fine bourbon. They sure make it good at Buffalo Trace :)

Thanks everyone! Glad it passed the test! I was waiting with bated breath for someone to say "ohhh.. yeah, sorry dude.. that's a fake." Whew!

Walhberg - You got it! I'll post some more pics on the strap. It's from Hodinkee. I totally recommend their straps, amazing quality and feel. Very buttery leather.

Chorvath - Agreed! Blanton's is great stuff. - Also, I'm officially honored...5 posts in 5 years on this forum and my lowly thread made the cut! Haha.. Thanks again!

Thank you! I'm looking into a Rolex tang buckle for the strap, and also already thinking about getting a distressed black leather strap from Hodinkee too. Think that would look great against the matte dial.
