How do you handle it?

Does anyone else ever get in small or big debates with other mindless people who seem to have a hatred towards rolex? Always saying "there are way better brands than Rolex". To me, it seems like just Hate - for no reason.

I was just curious if anyone was willing to share a story that may be similar or relative to this and how you responded or handled it?

In well over 30 years of owning and wearing Rolex watches myself have never experienced this.

I just drop it. Not worth it. Had a guy explain to me out of the blue how his sub lookalike timex was better than my sub. I said ok and moved on.

I have not but I would say: of course there are finer time pieces than rolex, but they make a damn good sports watch. Rolex certainly is a polarizing brand.

I have been told that it is insane to spend so much money on a watch that tells time exactly like other cheaper watches. I just smile and move on.

You said mindless people.....the end.
Personally, I don't care and there hatred or negative perception of Rolex as an inferior brand says to me they are not knowledgeable about horology. Rolex practically invented the the wrist watch and there contribution to the wristwatch as we know it is just incredible.
If this mindless person is just thinking about name, fashion and price so be it. He can have all the Bulgari and Hublots to his hearts content, because when a person like Thierry Stern himself has respect for Rolex, I know for a fact that on my wrist sits a superior product.

This is internal retrospect because I don't even bother with these people if ever confronted with this situation, as you said... mindless.

The only place those type of discussions/debates ever occur is on a watch forum, funny enough.....they just don't happen out in the real world. The so-called "mindless people", as you refer to them, are often the same ones that may have a hatred towards Apple...its really strange.

Agree with this. They don't like certain cars too!

Doesn't happen much with watches in real life, but I got very fed up of all the haters on another forum trying to argue that their Tissots and Hamiltons and Chr. Wards were as good as or better than Rolex.

Pure and simple jealousy IMO.

Luckly I've had only positive experiences wearing Rolex and Omega all my life. The first time I ever experienced total Rolex hate was on the Omega sub-forum of another well know site a couple of years ago.

At the time I was quite surprised, even a little shocked. The hate went on for a few pages, some people really take their distain for Rolex personally, it's just a watch.

I don't mind a friendly discussion, heck I've had more than my fair share right here but when it come to mindless and gets nasty I'll just bow out. I'm not about to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man...

Just remember, it is ok if a person does not understand Rolex.

Never encountered anything negative like that - only positive comments if any at all.

I would find that sort of childish rant by someone to indicate their nature and that would immediately alert me to simply avoid them in the future.

I've known people like that, but just ignore their ignorant, narrow-minded, stereotypical comments.

The same thing happens with cars, clothes, etc.

The people who want to hate don't understand that the person makes the object, the object doesn't make the person.
