DateJust on leather strap
I committed Rolex blasphemy today and took the original bracelet off for a leather strap. I wanted to see what it would look like and it's a nice change of pace. The strap I have is plain. I plan on buying a nicer one, probably a brown one and a black one. My AD took the bracelet off for free. I also picked up a couple of free Rolex goodies - a magazine devoted to Rolex and a Rolex catalog. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm missing that great jubilee bracelet and then I'll be right back down there to have it switched again. This is just temporary, but I don't think its a bad look.

Mike,
I think the leather strap looks wonderful. It is nice to know that you have your option to change back to the original if you wanted. Kudos on the goodies. But nothing is free. ![]() ![]() ![]() Kyle

I'd agree! Not a bad look at all :) It opens up more dress options I would say. Someone posted a thread a while back with pics of a SS GMTIIc with a black strap...

Looks good Bama. A nice strap always lends a real dressy feel to a watch. I wish I hadn't missed that issue of Watch Time. That would be one of those cover to cover reads.

![]() Sorry Bama, I don't be meaning to hijack your thread here..I love the look of yours but I'd go with a better quality stitched strap to meet the standards of that awesome watch!

Like the DJ with the strap Bama. Looks real classy.
As to the GMT - no, just something oddly out of place. Supercase is too big for the narrow band. |

Would a Daytona leather strap fit a DJ? A nice deployment Rolex buckle would look great!

Genuine Rolex croc straps cost approximately $300-400. Most AD will have them in stock and glad to sell them to you, but the challenge is to find a genuine tang buckle or deployant clasp to go along with the straps; I was told that a solid YG tang buckle cost around $600. Rolex loves to control their inventory, and will not supply any ADs with buckle/clasp for public sell. You only option, if you choose to have a geniune Rolex strap/buckle or tang combo, is to send your watch in.
The cost is one thing, but not being able to see the options in person from an AD really blows! ![]() |

Really like the look, real sharp. Considering doing the same to my DateJust. Just put a honey colored croc stap with deployant buckle on my stainless steel vintage Girard Perregaux Gyromatic, it really changed the look of the watch which will now get worn a bit more. For a few bucks it's almost like getting a new watch.

If money...cough...is not an issue...cough again, then look into a genuine Rolex strap with either a buckle tang or a deployant clasp. Only the best for the best! Great stuff!
[edit] oh, and you have to have two; croc straps in black and brown. :) |

Looks great Bama. I'm looking at straps for both watches right now. I think it's a great switchup from the usual.

Michael,
Great look. I'm intending to get a croc for my DJ soon as well. Please keep us posted on how it turns out. I'll probably be looking for a nice black croc with a deployant. Ideally an original Rolex, but I understand those are really expensive. What's a very good quality non-Rolex strap and clasp? Looking for black and brown, dress strap (no white stitching) to fit a 36mm SS/WG DJ. What's a good brand? What size? How much to expect to pay? Tell us how it turns out!!! |
