How much money?

How much money have you spend in total all these years for rolex watches? Can you come up with a number? I know that JJ and Bo are going to have a record here.

$30,118 on 21 other watches like omegas, cartier, panerais, and chanels, all flipped except kept 2

yeah I know....I get bored fast, then later I want it back. I just sold my Milgauss and bought another YM 16622(3rd one). I'll probably wear it for a little then sell it if I want something else.

Here's an interesting thought. Subtract that by the income you got from all the Rollies you flip? What's your out of pocket cost?

I agree, but I wish I had enough money to buy any watch I wanted whenever I wanted it. I'd be in heaven then!

Let's see if anyone can get lower than me . . . .

I paid £84 (approx $168) for my 1675 SS GMT, in Liverpool, in 1967.

I then paid about £30 ($60) for the Jubilee Bracelet in 1970.

Over the 40 years my GMT has been serviced eight times at an average cost of about £100 ($200) per service - total service cost £800 ($1600).

This gives a total cost of only £914 ($1828), spread over 40 years, for owning and wearing, every day, a classic Pepsi SS GMT on Jubilee bracelet. I also own a cheap Accurist Quartz watch that I use for heavy/dirty jobs and when my GMT is in for service. This is itself 22 years old and has been a damn good, reliable timepiece - for £30 ($60)!! I have no inclination to buy another watch, not because I don't want to spend money, but because I have become very 'attached' to my GMT and I wouldn't wear anything else even if I had it!! If ever my GMT fails terminally, I will probably just get another (GMT II c), but any new watch won't have the same place in my heart as my old 1675.

Can anyone claim lower expenditure than me??

Just a question concerning the price. Was 84 pounds a lot of money in 1967?

Thanks, Velistko - you are right - I forgot to mention that monetary inflation has a lot to do with my 'low' expenditure. Of course, the £84 I paid for my GMT in 1967 was, in today's money, around £2,400 (I think). Also, the ealy services i had on my watch, at around £40, were more like £300 today. But my actual expenditure, in Sterling, is still as quoted. This might be a bit of a 'cheat', but I don't feel as thought I have spent much money.

The most important thing is that you enjoy your watch

Regardless, you've certainly gotten you money's worth. Great testament to Rolex quality and durability.

I just had mine insured so it came out to about $52,000 on the appraisal. I may have paid a bit less maybe 10-15% less, that is replacement value but I didn't even include sub $1500 watches which I have several.

I have 7 Rolex watches listed below and some Omegas and a JLC so far.
