Can anyone explain why the company that is renown for its date complication and iconic cyclops makes so many models without this very feature? It seem to be a big reason why people don't buy the Daytona, Milgauss, explorer 1, etc.

Not every watch needs a date complication. Some of us like simplicity.

Haha. I personally really don't care about a date feature. I think the Daytona is awesome regardless and thats why i bought it. It just pains me though to hear people ragging on the model because it doesn't have a date. They are missing out on such a beautiful experience.

I think that if you examine the Oyster line closely and also study the history and development of Rolex, it would become obvious why Rolex doesn't include a date on every watch.

Over the history of Rolex, the date aperture and the cyclops are Johnnys-come-lately.

The excellent thing about Rolex is that they make a watch for every taste. From the humble but tough-as-nails AirKing to the hideous diamond nasty nasty GMT Patriot. Something for everyone and that's great

I know...right! It's almost as if this brand has no interest in being "Über Trendy!" I'm thinking the less than stellar sales volume on these watches (especially that Daytona) is going to eventually sink this little start up watch company!

Some have a bonus date and other functions.

I'd never purchase a Rolex with a cyclops, I just don't like it.

Plenty of options to choose from. As for comment on why so many don't buy a Daytona?Why do so many people buy a Daytona? Seems to me there are plenty of fans and owners out there last time I checked. If one has to have a date because they easily lose track of what day it is, have no cell phone, no access to computers, no tablets etc. then I understand. Buy what you like and enjoy as there are lots of choices and that makes this game fun!! Cheers,

Different strokes for different folks, a lid for every pot... that sort of thing.
It's why I bought my Sub and why I'll someday buy an Explorer I.
Decades ago the Sub and the Explorer didn't have these features, still don't. That's why I like them.

I only own Rolex watches without the cyclops eye and date. My wifes only Rolex has no cyclops.

I love my Daytona, no date Submariner and would like to add a Milgauss and an Explorer I.
