New Day-Date Spotted!

This may be old news to some, but the new Day-Date released at Basel World this year is on display at the Rolex Boutique oparated by Wempe on 5th ave in NYC.

Looks very nice. I just wish they would offer the strap set up (end links, strap, & clasp) as an option when buying one equipped with a president bracelet.

Good weekend to all.

The strap and dial are green. This dial actually looks much nicer in person.

I just don't care for the DD without the President.

I do like the dial.

These are pretty cool, especially the blue but it comes off as a stealth piece for the women. Let's face it, it is on a croc. strap so you can't swim or run or bike with it which sort of defeats the purpose of owning a Rolex. I am sure not going to leave it on my towel when I swim at the resort so it's usefulness IMO is limited. It looks awesome and still may get one but the strap is a deterrent.

I like quite a few of those new DD's, the green one is stunning.

I've always wondered why watch manufacturers put a water proof watch on a leather strap. It kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

It doesn't take a lot of skill to put a NATO or a rubber strap on a watch if you want to do some swimming and the quality of being waterproof has more advantages than just swimming.

Replacing a soaked strap is a lot easier than getting a soaked solid gold dress watch repaired because of water damage.

Most Rolex watches haven't been practical/necessary for some time. Leather on a DD is the same as the improbable depth rating of the DSSD.

FWIW...leather is in fact reasonably water resistant. And at the end of the day, a new strap can be had for a "few" dollars.

Hi,
Comment(s) and question please. I think it's a beauty and I really do wonder how many guys/gals who own a DD on a president go swimming with it. I won't swim with mine.. Sub no problem but to hit the pool with a 30k watch is not what I do. That's just me.

Look at Patek. 50k watches even 100k watches which are water proof and all on leather. It's very different and just beautiful.

Now I my question. How big is it?. Is it 36mm or larger?
Tks

On display.. yes. In the wild, I doubt you will see many. Looks cheap and so un- Day Date-ish. Who is gonna drop the cash they are asking for one of these?

Same 3155 movement, however much more 'under the radar' then a traditional day-date.

I haven't come across any of these for in the for sale section. Anyone else recall seeing the new day-dates there?

Already seen one. A red face on the right wrist of a white hair middle age gentleman. Looked perfect on him.
