AP Diver: Is your Bezel 12pm Marker dead centre?

Hi All,

I just received my AP Diver. Happy Happy.

However, on close examination, I found that the Bezel marker at 12 oclock is not dead centre above the 12 o clock markers of the dial, see picture. it is a little off to the left. is the normal? or just that i am too picky? thank you.

if it's still under warranty you can repair it. mine was off center but they fixed it for me.

Mine is spot on, may be you can try rotating the inner bezel a few times and see if this corrects the problem

Mine is spot on at the 12 oclock and every 60 min click as well.

Saying that - I think yours looks perfectly acceptable for a hand made piece.

From your photo it looks like an optical illusion to me, mine is spot on, but when I close one eye it looks slightly off, when I close the other eye it's bang on. Your camera angel does not look centred to me. Tilt the watch down slightly so you are looking at it from the bezel above the 12( if that makes sense) and I suspect you will see it dead centre.

Mine is right on. But don't let a fraction of a mm bother you.

And the optical illusion theory makes sense, too.

Hi All,

Thank you for the replies. as advised by HKRolexfans, i rotated the bezel a few times and it seems to work, see picture. However I found another issue at the 45min markers (see red circle)... this is pretty obvious misalignment...

sorry that i appear to be nit picking on the diver, just that I LIKE it too much and hope that I didn't get a lemon....

cheers....

Certainly in that photo it looks bad, but I still think this is all to do with camera angles/ the angle you are looking at it, as your recent picture in the miscellaneous AP thread doesn't show it ( to my eyes). You could always send it in to be investigated by AP or return to your AD to get their comments if you are not convinced.

I have seen the 45 minute misalignment in quite a bit of Divers, including one I owned.

The inner rotating flange on mine aligns perfectly with all markers on the dial.

Thank you for all the prompt replies and suggestions.

I am little surprised that having an aligned 45min markers are like a hit or miss situation for the Diver.

I will most probably go down to the service centre and get the AP folks views.

anyone know for such misaligned markers what is usually done? replace with new bezel?

In the meanwhile I will wear and ENJOY the DIVER!!!!

Cheers

After I saw this thread I took a closer look at mine and it appears that although the 12 o' clock marker is perfectly aligned, it appears that some of the other hour markers are not 100% aligned. The most misaligned one is the one at 9 o' clock, probably off by 0.5mm. Kinda disappointing that a $19,000 watch would have the outer ring not printed perfectly... I'm actually shocked that the quality is subpar in my opinion.

Can people with "perfectly" aligned inner bezel post pics of their watches?

Thsiao my bad.
But as Jim suggested, picture depending on the angle it was taken will not be a good representation of aligned or misaligned markers
Cheers

When I noticed it on the one I used to own, I did call AP Service in FL and spoke to one of the watchmakers. He told me they were aware of the issue and they would take care of it no problem, whenever I wanted to send it in, now, for the two year check or even if the warranty was expired.

With the above in mind, I would not sweat it too much.

Glad to hear there is solution for it. But on the other hand since AP knows about the issue, why didnt they fix it at their QC stage before sending out to the dealers?

Cheers

Can't answer that ... Plus this was not AP formally acknowledging anything. Just a conversation between me and a watchmaker. if I remember correctly, the conversation went something like this:

- We are aware of the issue ...
- So, it is a common problem then?
- No, we are aware that it happened with a number of pieces ...

Ultimately, problems happen. The important thing is how they are resolved. AP stands behind their product and will take care of it. Good enough for me.

Likewise. No way I could handle that. Can't believe that slips through quality control.

I also re-inspected the markers alignment after seeing this thread. At the beginning, I didn't aware of the mis-alignment but now I would say that with 12 o'clock marker spot on, the 45 is a bit off but not very noticeable, may be due to viewing angle, but anyway, this doesn't bother me, I still enjoy every moment I had with my Diver

Dammit, just looked and saw my 45 marker is off as well.

What about the actual lume on the bezel numbers? Anyone's 2 and 5 look a little 'lumpy'?

If you are bothered (which is totally understood), it is always a good idea to bring it to APSC for a warranty check. They will take care of it

If I had just paid £10000 pounds for a Diver...I'd expect it to be perfectly aligned ... Not just "ok" poor QC IMO
