My first rolex
I'm looking to buy my first rolex and I really like the new explorer ii, but I'm so concern abou the size.
42mm is not a huge size. I have a 41mm carrera and I loved it. But for a rolex, it seems a bit too much. Any comments or suggestion??? Thanks, |

Definitely worth a trip. I will say this though, it may seem too large at first but I guarentee that you'll get used to it. I just bought a Pam 111 and thought it was comically big at first being 44mm, but it has grown on me and I may consider picking up a 47mm Pam. I bet that Exp will look great on your wrist.

It is very big and looks cartoonish with the wonking hands, et al. Another miss by Rolex. Buy the 16570 instead...

42mm is very big when my 3 yr old plays with my watches and the hands on the new ExpII are probably one of the best features...easy to read & without a doubt screams "tool watch". I'm so glad Rolex actually designed & used 100% different hand on the all new ExpII instead of just recycling already developed hands (as they've done many times on other models). Great move IMO. I guess 'to each his/her own'...but really think these classifications are a little extreme. |

Hmmm... I don't think it's too big at all. It's also a functional design. Go try one on at your local AD. Although I originally thought my Omega SMP was big, now I feel it's average and wouldn't mind having one slightly bigger piece. A little wrist presence is nice to have.

I suggest going to a Rolex AD and try it on and see if the 42mm works for you.

Have you tried one on? Head to your AD and try on the EXII and maybe a sub to see the size difference

It wears great. The flat case back hugs the wrist and is very well balanced.
Let us know your thoughts after trying it on. |

I tried one on Monday morning at an AD. By monday evening, i had it strapped to my wrist. Its comfier than my Subc, It is bigger, but not overpoweringly so. Go for it. I bought the white face, im now lusting after the black one. Its probably Rolexs most perfect watch imho.
Peace. |

The 42mm Exp II initially will feel large on the wrist, then you will hardly notice it after a while.
Its also rather comfortable with a flatter caseback than a Sub. Can't go wrong with either :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the 42mm is not to your liking, a 40mm (past gen) may fit the bill. Something to consider. Good luck ....

You can't go by the size alone...depends on the lugs too.
Some 42mm can wear bigger if the case/lugs are longer You need to try on. I think the EXP II wears perfect for 42mm |

I have 44mm watches and when I tried on the white dial I did think it wore quite big surprisingly, so I would go for the black dial, but you have to try them both on to know for you.

Go to your AD
and try one on. That's probably the best way to tell. When I bought my watch, I wore the shirt style that I would typically be wearing 9 months out of the year, to see if it worked well under cuffs. It did Needless to say, my wife bought me the watch.

The 41mm Carrera wears large and if you're ok with that then you should have no problem with the 42mm ExpII.
