Rolex website: Worst website ever?

Am I just missing something? Slowest load times in history. I just want to see images and features of each model. Once I finally locate the one I want to see and I decide to "discover" it, it leads me to a very short list where only a few models and colors are shown. What if I want to see the watch in the exact color dial, bezel, bracelet etc combination?

Just horrible.....

Panorama? Three images of one color choice for each model? Is that really it?

I don't like it at all- I usually google, flickr or ebay my way around to view a certain combo. As others have suggested, Rolex wants you to visit an AD to touch the watch and check out the selection. There's got to be a master 'list' for all dial/bezel/bracelet/metal combinations.

I've been trying to find a blue or black arabic jubilee dial for my 16030. The net is bone dry.

Rolex.com is undeniably one of the worst websites ever made. It's so hard to navigate when you are a beginner

I will second that! And it's been much worse than it is now, but still it is very difficult to navigate!

I just opened the Rolex website in the early year, when I first interested with Rollie. But now, never thinking to open that site again.

I almost wrote an e-mail to Rolex. You know that things are bad when a 13 year old girl has a better MySpace page when you compare it to a company that is a leader in marketing and advertisement.

I am glad I am not the only one. I thought I was missing something and couldn't believe how weak the website is. It has got to be one of the worst websites I have seen for ages.

All high end watch sites over do it. They attempt to be above and better then the surfer, like an AD.

Don't know how they justify the relatively sparse exhibition of their models on that site. I don't know if I'd buy a Rolex if I could only research the brand on their own website. It's pathetic.

Small pictures, incomplete selection, hard navigating, misleading selections, sometimes the AD's don't list, etc. Aside from that, it's great...

There has got to be a reason.....they aren't that stupid...there must be a marketing dept. or consultant that is looking after this, with a fairly massive budget, so there is a "marketing Ploy" here somewhere. I have my own website that is maintained by someone that kicks the Rolex site out of the park, & I am absolutely positive that my budget is diddly compared to Rolex (1 day compared to 1 year, at least).
Once again, would be nice to be able to get the reason from Rolex itself, but maybe that's part of the "mystery" ??...gha

They spend the money on RD and not on the website. If you have to read the website to learn about rolex, it just means they dont want your biz

Talked to an AD (not my own), who said that they have such a limited selection of watches on the site in order to make a potential customer go to the AD to see the watches, and then buy one that is already there. They don't want their ADs having to order watches for customers, they want the ADs to sell what they're shipped.

Agreed! It has been said that one of the main reasons as to why Rolex makes few of the SS Daytonas is that it will make customers go to the AD (well, typically several AD's, really) to ask for the SS Daytona. When customers then get the usual "we have no Daytona. We only get two a year, at most. We don't put anymore customers on the waiting list", etc., etc. reply, customers often settle for something else since the AD would add "BUT we DO have THIS model....."
