Hi everyone,
I have been reading this wonderful forum and have a question,

What are specific reasons, pro and con of lug holes?
Thanks in advance

Lug holes are awesome. Especially if you're swapping bands often. No holes for no nothing.

The lugholes are preferred by many because they are indicative of a Rolex tradition, which was never unique to Rolex, but Rolex held to this feature long after most, if not all, had gotten rid of it.

Some prefer lug holes because the bracelet doesn't have a spring bar at the first link, next to the solid end link that Rolex introduced at the time that they ditched the lug holes.

My watchmaker told me that the bracelets on the solid end link watches can fail at the second spring bar, although such has been rare.

Some prefer the ease of changing the bracelets for straps.

The fact is though that Rolex no longer makes a watch with lug holes, so you might as well get used to that, unless you want to go vintage.

There are a few vintage Rolex that have no lug holes. My 1958 T-O-G has none and My 1947 Bubble back has holes only on one side

I LOVE LUG HOLES

No lug holes, looks a lot better.
Don't need to worry about changing bracelet on my Rolex, no need or want to put on something other than the great bracelets they already have.

There are a lot of folks on this board who will wholeheartedly disagree with that statement.

I'm quite fond of the lug holes myself.

I've learn to like lug holes, and they serve a more useful purpose than no lug holes. I use to think that no lug holes looked more pleasing but now I think they actually give a Rolex more character and pedigree, along with easier swapping of bands and the spring bars were thicker/stronger.

I can understand a Day/Date, Daytona or YM2 (i.e. dressy or formal type watches) not having lug holes but the Submariner, Deepsea, Explorers, GMT2C, Pelagos, Heritage, and Black Bay should have them.
If Patek, AP, VC and the king of lug holes Pam, can have lug holes, why can't Rolex. Looks over function.

I think they have their place on a tool watch such as a Sub, but I really think they detract from the look on DJ. As stated above, they do make strap & bracelet changes much much easier.

I'm probably in the minority around here, but I prefer the clean look of no lugholes.

Lug holes look much better on a Sub or Sea Dweller, these watches were made to be worn at work, a lot of people used NATO straps and with lug holes it makes them so much easier to change and no lug scratches...

Lugs holes are probably the last true indication of Rolex's "tool watch" past.

Love lug holes - so easy to swap out bracelet for strap.
Love those rattly end links, too

From my good friend on another thread concerning the same issue.

When i bought my sub in 1991, i had no idea what a lughole was, then as time went on and i noticed that most other watches, often the cheapest of them, didnt have lugholes, but instead had some form of slot that needed special tools, i thought, this is just another reason to love my rolex...when they did away with them, i definitely felt rolex sold out.
