Bummer...only 4 days and my 116520 is scratched...

Damm polished centers on the clasp are too easy to scratch....only 4 days and I got a small scuff on the clasp......guess thats the price I pay for actually wearing my watch, rather then leaving it to sit in a safe.

Scratches are inevitable. It's no use getting frustrated over them. They can be removed at RSC service.

It's all part of the deal. Learn to live with it. I actually like the patina of a nicely worn SS oyster bracelet.

I have just sent my 1655 Explorer 11 to RSC for a servive after wearing it every day for the last twelve years.
Scuba diving, fixing cars and bikes and a lot of sailing have all taken its toll on the watch and the 'glass' in particular was very badly scratched.
Wish I had taken some photos of it before I despatched it!
Needless to say the watch never issed a beat and still keeps perfect time but now I have retired and am leading a less hectic life I felt it was due a birthday present.
Scratches are all part of life if you want to wear your Rolex - after all, thats what it was made for.

i understand how you feel, my gmt2c made it about 48 hours before it had places on it. none of them are bad or anything like that but you know what i mean.

I got some new reading glasses recently and took a close look at Rolli......ARGHHHHH...the bracelet scratches are all over, especially the '12 oclock side from my lap top keyboard...but it's all about wearing the watch and living the dream.....

I may (or may not) get them polished out when it goes for service number 1....but they don't bother me in the slightest.....

Ditto DSJ... It's just a scratch and it was bound to happen. Now you can wear it and enjoy it and no worry anymore "When is it going to happen?". Scratches are inevitable and they add character. If you get too many, you can just get them buffed out.

the yellow gold in the center links of my 16613 aint no breeze neither, I have more than a few scratches now, I'm going to cape-cod it at some point this weekend, it's the perfect treatment for polished center links

Be careful with the Cape Cod. It can lead to an over polished look. I got obsessive and then just put it in an ultrasonic cleaner to keep the band clean. I'm going to let the RSC take the scratches out when the time comes. In the meantime I will wear the watch (what I bought it for) and let the scratches fall where they may.

Indeed! This pic shows the result of overpolishing. I have previously stated that this was caused by excessive use of Cape Cod, but some replied that this could not possibly have been done with a CC cloth. I'd tend to agree. Anyway, the pic still shows that one should be careful with polishing one's watch in general:

I just wish the center of the clasp wasn't polished, that way it wouldn't scratch as easily.

I mean the center of the clasp is the bottom of the watch, to make matters worse, its raised...of course its going to scratch....bummer for the mirror-like finish though.

I've been daily wearing it for 10 days straight now.....i'm sure i'll get another scratch sooner or later.....but whats the point if i can't enjoy it eh?

Just enjoy your Rolex - you can't take an unused, pristine, boxed watch with you when you die. let it pick up the odd scratch - it gives it character and sends out the signal that you're not too anal !!

When I bought my 116520 I put it on my wrist in the shop, scratched the clasp on a zip by putting the box into my rucksack!

every time I see the scratch it reminds me where I have been and what I have done.

When I first got my watch I was very careful where I wore it so it wouldn't get scratched. I was always stressed about it. Then about 2 weeks later I got my first scratch/ware marks on the clasp while working at my desk. The first scratch is the most painfull. Now I just ware my Sub and enjoy it. But I still remember how my heart sank with the first scratch.
