New addition to the family
Having missed out on buying the 114270 Explorer before it was discontinued, I continually hankered after a decent Explorer which could be used as a everyday watch. Having looked at many pre-owned ones (all of which had issues), I was chatting to my AD the other day who told me he had a 14270 coming in which had been fully Rolex Serviced in July this year. It had had a new clasp as part of this process. Having viewed it yesterday, it was an immediate "must". The picture below does not do it justice (the bezel is a perfect mirror finish). It's 1998 on a U serial and is the transition model with just the word "SWISS" at the bottom of the Luminova dial (whilst still on the pre SEL 78790 bracelet). The more I look at it, the more I agree with those who've said it is a classic.

Many thanks for the various posts above. Am very happy with the new addition. It's strange that I continually hanker after older Rolex models and not the newest ones sold on the high street.
