What is your handicap?

In keeping with the thread about how much we all make per month, what is your golf handicap?

I am generally a 10 in the USGA system. in 2006 I got down to 7, but only played 3 times in 2007 and did not break 90. Crazy. I really need to play about 2-3 times a week to maintain high single-digit. Once a week will keep me at 10-11. The difference is the short game. When I play a lot, my short game is on and I can get up and down. When I play less often I lose the touch.

I play kind of old-school equipment, with an 8-year old Titleist 975J driver and Titleist blades in my bag.

I have a couple. First is my Wilson Persimmons; on several the powered lead leaked out the bottom of the woods...

The other handicap is I leant my Callaway's to a co-worker, who got a new job and disappeared.

So I've taken Tennis back up as a sport.

To ignore the fools for a second. Sounds like you play very well.

I know what you mean about playing a bunch to stay sharp, makes a huge difference.

If you want to play even less, do what I do, become a PGA Golf Professional.

11-13 hcp. Play 1-2 times per week.... Ping irons, King Cobra driver, and I like the Nike balls.

Funny, whenever I play with so called 5-8 hcps, they usually shoot about the same or worse than me....which tells me people overstate their hcp's all the time.

Guys in that range are focused on breaking 80, and often try too hard and throw down an 88.

I once went out with a couple of foursomes of good buddies. I was a solid 11 at the time, although I hadn't played for 3 months. I shot a 114.

The USGA system is too easy to fudge either way. Sandbagging is way too easy, as well as a vanity handicap. It should be based on tournament play only.

I'm playing off a 12 right now. It went up a bloody stroke in 6 months. I just finished my 2 month hiatus and now golf season is starting back up at school. Time for everyday play again! BTW I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have been lurking. Hopefully everyone is doing great.

Hey Tyler,

How you been, buddy? Long time, no see. Trust the medical studies are going strong....and some day we hope to see a top-notch heart surgeon in our young friend, uh?

Keep well, pal.....and do keep in touch.

Cheers - JJ

It ain't hard being an 8 and shooting the occasional 90. If you post enought scores, only low 10 or whatnot count plus 90% differential. My son is +1 and he throws the odd 80 in there. You should hardly ever play to your handicap. I do agree that tournament scores should be weighted heavier. Anyway, it's a great game, I've played off and on since I was 14. You can learn a lot about a person on the golf course.

The cocktail handicaps are always fun to play/bet with.

I love golf. My mode score is probably about 78, but I don't play regularly, and I can be all over the place.

When I used to play regularly at the same course, I was a pretty solid 4 or 5. Now I mostly just play when I'm traveling, and only for fun (and side bets, of course). So I'm far less consistent.

Oh yeah, clubs. Titlest driver. Mizuno T-Zoid Pro forged irons. Vokey wedges.

What is your handicap?
