To Brand Or Not To Brand......

that makes ALL the difference, at least as far as moolah goes!

Here is my watch that cost 1/5 of what it would've cost if a distributor
had its name added by the manufacturer.

This watch is a valjoux 7750, the same movement that powers a lot of famous watch brands.

The case is manufactured for ????

This watch was purchased by me at a watchmaker's, who bought it from a customer of his, who purchased this watch at Basel a number of years ago.....it is "new" old stock, meaning, it is a demonstrator watch, and if you purchased 500 or so of them, you can get your label affixed to the dial........
thereby increasing the value 5 or 6 times!

Think that's fair practice? It's done everyday.......

Branding/Marketing costs a lot.

It does. And, if done well, pays back a tremendous amount.

So who regularly does this? Cartier, for example? The whole manufacturing process start to finish? Wow. As I say it, I'm realizing it probably is true......so they get to pick (and design?) a case, pick the movement? ......... And then, they market....so maybe the "big boys" have an exclusive dealing contract with certain manufacturers?

Nice watch. Has a clean look to it.
Big fan of the Valjoux 7750.
