Does your spouse, significant other, really notice?

In the kitchen yesterday, my wife asks if that is the watch I was wearing the evening before. "No, sweetheart, that was my Explorer, this is the Submariner", to which she remarked "Well, this one looks nice, big dial, shiny, I like it!"
Then we had a brief exchange about dial size relative to bezel and how that can affect the perception of size of a watch, to which she says "I don't really care abount any of that, I just like the watch", and walks away.

In three years that is the most extensive (voluntary) conversation she has ever engaged in regarding my watches.

my wife has been asking me a lot about different models sizes etc. Mostly because she wants me to find her a Midsize YM.

it's been a lot of fun now that she enjoys talking about watches. Before it was like dragging my nails on a chalkboard

The only time my wife notices my watch, is if I try to sneak a new one in the house.

I tried the old bait and switch and it worked. I was not sure if I would like the blue dial TT Submariner, so I got Invicta homage to see if I liked it. I made a point of opening the box with her there and showing her the watch.

I liked it and had a black TT spyder dial (not an enhancement, a defect) Submariner that Rolex would not service without replacing the dial. I had it converted to blue and really liked it. She never noticed. I gave the Invicta to a buddy in Arizona.

I was in the same dilemma with a Pepsi dial, would I like it, and how to get the Rolex in the house when it was time. I got Invicta homage to see if I liked it. Same thing, I liked it and got a GMT. Plausible deniability.

Purses, a place I have learned not to go!

Thanks for this my friend. I'm going to buy an empty invicta box on the internet - a Rolex homage by invicta - pure genius. (in my case this will work) Hello datejust ll !

That's my wife to a tee☺ I talk about my Sub all the time and she likes that I like it but I think she hopes I never really get serious about buying others. She never once would tell me no, but when I read your reply I thought immediately ... That's my pretty girls feelings as well. As others have said, I sure love her but she doesn't much want to start a conversation about it. I talk enough I do believe.

OP - You are one of the lucky ones. Mine notices. So much I've started to wear a friends Ricoh (DJ homage/copy) so that when I do buy the DJ she hopefully won't notice.

Not to make her sound bad but she wouldn't approve even if I won the lottery. Anything more expensive than a cheap Casio is a waste. I do love her though.

I'm with you, even though my wife bought me my Sub when we got engaged she still thinks it's ridiculous to spend so much money on a watch (or watches). She loves the fact I love them but that's about it, she just shakes her head when she catches me admiring my wrist candy, for me it never gets old

My wife notices everything. She not into watches per se but she's into fashion so she appreciates nice things and would most certainly notice if I started wearing a new watch.

If she notices, I dont know. My wife never starts a watch conversation. She knows once she does I simply can't stop talking.

Ditto.
I'm not buying new watches anymore but when I was on the roll I always instructed the sellers to deliver to her office, go figure. Really I never had any problems with her about my watch obsession, never tried to hide anything.

My wife humors me, and likes her Air-King-Date. In fact my wife and my mom invented a watch-related drinking game last year. They take a drink whenever they hear my dad, brother or me say the word "bezel." I guess we say that word a lot.

My wife never paid any attention until she finally "allowed" me to buy her a Rolex a few years ago. She's not a WIS and does not aspire to be BUT....she has become a spotter!

My wife is supportive but also keeps me from being too dumb. I bought my wife a DJ on jubilee and she loves it. The other day in a Local AD she winds up helping a lady who is looking to purchase a mid size DJ and gives her more information than either salesperson helping the lady. I was like a proud father (not in a creepy way). I just stayed in the corner (of course where the precious metals Rolexes were located) ogling & drooling.

She also is pointing them out to me now.

Awesome. Love her.

Yes, my wife notices and has now threatened divorce since she feels my watch collecting has become an obsession! I never said anything about her collecting bags! FML!

LOL! You need to keep buying more. At some point she won't even be able to tell if they are new ones or old ones. That is when you have won the battle!
