I'm thinking of purchasing one but don't see that much talk about this model. Is it unpopular or maybe because of the price it is uncommon. I tried one on and it's beautiful but need to do more research before I make the move.

Beautiful watch, beautiful dial, very fluid lines, wears very well despite of size. Fantastic complication to booth! Mechanical genius!

Not a big fan of the bezel text but a minor quibble overall. It's far from a focal point in real life.

This baby is gone to a home where it will be properly loved I hope.

It's a mixed bag. Most seem hung up on the count-down complication or the "Yacht-Master II" on the bezel. Otherwise it's seen as a very nice hefty Rolex... As big as the DSSD without the thickness that's oft mentioned.

Personally, I love my YM2 and could care less about its popularity.

It's certainly a stunning piece.

I think it's a little less common strickly due to it's price (vs the other SS models) and it's size. Many of us with smaller wrists don't fit into anything larger than 40mm. That alone will reduce the target audience.

It's also up against VERY popular, iconic models like the Submariner, GMT, Daytona, etc... which are rich in history.

With that being said, many members on the forum own one and it's an absolutely gorgeous watch. If that's the one that sings to you, certainly pull the trigger. Don't be swayed by what the "masses" like - get what you want.

I'm a very happy owner of a Yacht-Master I, which is also another model that isn't as popular as the others. I actually see that as a pro, not a con.

Awesome watch and even better in person!

Unfortunaltely out of my price range, but if it was in my price range with the better discounts available on the precious metal models compared to SS I think I would give it a miss for something gold

Not a huge fan. I think this "massive watch phase" will be on the decline- I prefer mine 40-42mm.

My husband almost bought one a few weeks ago and decided against it as he didn't care for it when he tried it on.

I am a fan...I think it is one of the most unique models that Rolex makes and I especially like the movement.

It all comes down to personal preference.

I LOVE certain things about this watch, (size, heft) but I'm not as keen on others, (dial readability/ cluttered appearance).

As others have said, if it sings to you, go for it!

Probably my favorite YG model in the Rolex lineup. But certainly not a watch for everyone...

It really shouldn't matter if a model is popular or not....what does matter, is if you like it!!!

Myself, I have always loved the model. Right from the day it was released I new one would land on my wrist, & I haven't been disappointed yet!!!

If you do some searching on the boards, you'll see there's plenty of chatter on this model.
Try one on, and see how hard it is to take off...

I really like it. I tried on the TT YM II before the SS came out, but felt it was too big for my wrist.

I dont really see the point of the YM2. Its just to busy. If you want a yachtmaster go with the original. The most underated Rolex in there lineup.

Having had both, they're equally impressive pieces. You're right though the YM is very underrated. It's the most comfortable Rolex I've ever worn. Period. However the YM2 is just so much more interesting.

In all seriousness, I really like the SS version. Perfect if you want some SS heft but aren't feeling the DSSD. Great looking watch in general.

Love the blue ceramic and white dial. I hear resale is value is not so great. 14k or so!!
Where is Rolex going with 18k SS watch? Risky policy. Too close to entry PP prices IMO
