Icon12 How Rolex sees its cyclops

Spotted --- the following on Rolex's official Facebook page:

"Named after the one-eyed giant of Greek mythology, the Rolex Cyclops lens enhances the watch's emblematic date display two and a half times for easy reading.

It is a signature feature of the Rolex Datejust and its similarity to a drop of water is reminiscent of the water-filled lenses used by ancient civilisations for their magnifying power."

I agree.

I understand the purpose and the description.

I do not like the way it looks on the dial and they way it creates weird fun house effects at odd angles.

Yes, it sounds a lot nicer than "dial wart" that I've heard it described as!

That is the most fantastic marketing ad I've ever seen. Sent shivers down my spine. And, I dont even own a rolex with a cyclops.

When I was younger I hatted that drop of water. A few years later and a Rolex feels naked without it.

I like the cyclops on my DJ (116200 63600), but it'd look sort of out of place on my Explorer (114270) and my Sub (14060M).
