Daytona or day date 2?

I'm having a huge issue choosing my next purchase. It is between two very specific watches and I already have the dial I like on either watch. I want to get some opinion on what you guys like more and why? Thank you!

Like them both but such a personal thing. Go try them on and get a feel for them and make an educated decision. Everyone has different taste so of course opinions will vary. I can tell you owning both in platinum I love the one that is on my wrist at the time the most!

Like what Ken said, I would be in love with the watch that was on my wrist at the moment. I've really come around on the Daytona, and I would have to vote for that, seeing as how the DDII is just a little too big for me. Classic 36mm with the prez bracelet would be my choice.

Thank you all. thomaspp really blew my mind with his answer as I think that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do. Get the daytona in SS and get the ddii in rose gold

I really like them both, but I think that's a great answer.

I really like them both.

But, I would have a hard time paying the premium of the Day-Date II over a very nice 36mm Day-Date President. you can find a very nice example for well under $10K on the used market.

I really like slim , comfortable and easy to wear watches, and I think the Daytona is that. So, I would go Gold Daytona, but I would also consider Pre-Owned Gold Daytona on a strap + a 36mm President instead of either, and you get two great watches for about the same price as one of those.

Just something to consider, but as always buy what you love and connect to, logic shouldn't play too much a role.

I'm really partial to 40-41mm over 36mm Slider. That being said I can just get the ddii and in a couple of months grab the daytona in SS. I do value you're opinion though it makes a lot of sense. If I could deal with a 36mm you make a very good point on why going that route would be a good idea.

That DDII has some serious wrist presence, and in a certain way getting the DDII in Rose or yellow good and a Steel Daytona will give you two of the most classic Rolex variants. They would make a very good pair and be quite versatile.

I actually have a 36mm President and am deciding on either a SS Daytona or a GMT II, probably the BLNR, so I think we think similarly.

They're two completely different watches, not really comparable. If you said a Daytona vs Speedmaster, or a DD vs a PP then I could assist.

Why do people compare to totally different watches?

Daytona for me! I just wish the RG had a few interesting dials and/or ceramic insert.

Man, that is a tough choice.... I'd have to try both on and go with what felt right. But both are amazing pieces! If it were me, I'd consider the 36mm DD with the black MOP and diamond hour markers.

I'd choose the DDII if I had the wrist for it.
