Things Canadians have, that Americans don'..

This is all in fun, so I want others to chime in too, with things that are engrained in their "culture" that you probably don't see elswhere..

Starting off:
Canadian Tire Money. Every Canadian has few of these dollars floating around somewhere.

Canada (well Toronto) has so many potholes that its starting to look like the moon around here....actually the moon has less craters than we have potholes

We milk that comes in bags(seriously this is not a dirty joke), some countries don't I hear.

Two things I love about Texas:

1. You can get anything wrapped in a tortilla.
2. Boots are acceptable footwear to every conceivable function.

You should have learned by now, being in the Big "D," that every Texan swears an oath to divert every conversation towards the merits of our fine Republic.

The fact that people here think it should be a republic is funny enough conversation for me. I have this conversation weekly with natives to this state.

Tim Horton's, poutine, different colors or should I spell it as colours of paper money , loonie (1 dollar coin) and the toonie (2 dollar coin), saying "Eh" instead of "Huh".

I owe you my gratitude.

If you have not seen the movie, "Supertroopers", there is an opening sequence where one of the officers mentions the word "Poutine" after the kids they pulled over said they were headed to Canada for french fries and gravy.

I never had any idea what the hell he was saying, and now I do. After seeing "Poutine" in your post, I pulled up trusty Wikipedia, and got myself an education on Poutine.

Thanks!

- Erik

You're going to have to cross some of those off your list. Tim Horton's are in the US now, US currency is now colored although not as brightly and the 1 dollar US coin has been around for some time. I'll let you have the rest.

I'm a dual citizen so I have the best of both worlds.

Tim Horton's in the States? Not in the State of Washington.

Not in Washingston state, but they have stores in the following states.

CT, KY, MA, ME, MI, NY, OH, PA, RI and WV.

All on the east coast...I wonder when they will get down to Texas.

I for one, am very grateful we have Canada for a neighbor! I have several friends in Ontario and always appreciate their interest in what we do down here.

A friend of mine is from Canada, Eh and anytime I stop by his house I am forced to drink Labatt's Blue. Isn't there something better from Canada, like Molson or Moosehead??

Doc,

Can't argue too much with your first points my friend... as far as the queen of sappy ballads Celine is concerned though... I'll see your Dion and counter that with one part Neil Young and a dash of Leonard Cohen (who was just inducted in to the rock and roll hall of fame this week by Lou Reed no less)
