USA takes the W against Ghana today

Anyone watch the game?

Tough to lose altidore but happy to see team USA get the win they needed. Couldn't believe the were able to respond after losing the lead so late in a largely 1 sided matchup, in terms of possession.

USA! USA

Yeah this was one hell of a match. I could not believe U.S. got pounded so bad in the second half... However, I loved the swift response that put U.S. in the lead for the rest of the game.

He used to play for my team in North London. Interesting pics if you google Clint's wife.

Nice game; not so good for our friends in England. (Yes, I'm rubbing it in)

They better play better than that to be competitive against Germany and Portugal, they looked lost in the second half...

Must admit that I can see them (hoping) getting a draw with Portugal which will leave the USA above them in goal difference, I fear that Germany will be too strong for the US but with a bit of luck they will only concede a couple of goals. The other good thing in the USA's favour is that they play the Germans last, in which case, by that time the Germans would probably have qualified for the next round and want to save/rest some of their top players.

Having said that, IMHO Germany will be too strong for all the other countries in the tournament as well.

Yeah they were dealing with a couple injuries to key players and trying to protect more than attack. Some more effective counters would have been nice though.

Italy is a very strong team. Seems the heat and humidity make for a difficult comeback late.

No doubt about that, im not sold on Portugal yet, but if we are competitive against Germany... That would be incredible and shocking.

The Germany draw with Ghana (great game) has put paid to my predictions above (especially and tellingly the bolded part). A win for Germany would have suited the USA best, however, no matter the score tonight the Americans will still go into their last group game knowing that they can still qualify. I'm hoping that they get a good result against Portugal tonight and have qualified before their last game.

I'm really enjoying this World cup, so much better than the lack lustre performances of four years ago.

I really hope the US wins today and know they are moving on before they have to play Germany. The Ghana and Germany game was really good and you are right this has been a really enjoyable World Cup so far.

I'm a german fan as well but I'm secretly worried that Klinsman's powers will transcend the bench and show these youngins how it used to be done in his day. He was absolutely first class and I'm thrilled he's coaching the US team.

I don't think any team wants to play Germany right now. Hopefully they don't get overconfident.

What a bunch of idiots. The USA had this game and in the last 5 minutes, they played like they didn't give a damn. They practically handed the ball to Portugal in the last few seconds of the game. All they had to do was stall and they would have won.

Thats all they were doing was stalling the last 5.... Not sure what game you were watching. It was a great, great pass and an even better header... All around great game

Yup, USA did their best to stall. Can't deny Portugal that beautiful goal to tie.

I thought they dominated the possession and should have won bit that's football. The last 5 minutes were executed perfectly until Bradley coughed it up and they failed to cover in the box. Tough to see but not much they can do but focus on Germany.

Both teams played a sloppy game, but the USA still managed to score two goals. At the end, it was as if they weren't even playing anymore. It looked like they just gave up. Portugal saw that and took advantage of it. They scored a great goal.

In reality, a tie with Portugal is very good for the USA, but they could have easily won if they didn't give up at the end. It was frustrating to see them fall apart.
