cant go back to 40mm
I've had my DSSD and YMII for 1 week today. I am LOVING the bigger size. I've been to 2 ADs in the past week and a half, an any 40mm Rolex seems like a women's watch now. Even one if my favorites; the Daytona is way too small now. I checked out the new SD4000 today, and it just does not do it for me. I love 40 mm, but I don't know if I can ever get another 40. I know this is normal, but I've had several watches in the past 6 months- 116515, 116520, 14060, and PP 5711- all 40 mm. I love 40, but I can't ever turn back. I hated the huge PAM 388, and my JLC 976- BOTH seemed too big, both traded. Now I am wearing 43-44 mm, and they wear like 40 mm to me, just look bigger. It's really amazing how quickly you go from thinking 40 is perfect one week, and the next it's puny. Anyone else have the same thoughts? It's too bad too, because all the other rolex are 40 that I love, but won't buy. Sorry for the long boring post, I'm just dumbfounded

It's all in your mind my friend. You can size up, or size down down. The mind will play tricks on you. Wear a 40mm for a few weeks then throw on that giant. You'll feel completely the opposite.

I felt the same with my DSSD and YMII really made the Daytona line look especially small But really once I have any size watch on my wrist it looks and feels great! Now my Daytona has stopped me from wearing my YG YMII |

It is funny, but in your photo the Daytona looks a bit bigger than the YM....I know it isn't, but just looks that way.

For me a 39mm watch is perfection, but I'm glad you're enjoying your YM2 and DSSD!

I like watches of all sizes. It's my 6.5" wrist that doesn't agree
I wouldn't have a problem switching between 38, 40, 42, to 44mm though. If I wore something in the 46 to 47mm range and then switched to 40 I would feel that it looks tiny but I'm sure I'd get over it in a few seconds. |

I don't like watches I can't easily get my shirt sleeve over. I've got a few of them and don't need them.

I'm good anywhere from 39 - 47mm although 39 and 40 seem perfect for me.

It's totally normal. You think that you can't go back, but in my case, I actually could. Just took me a couple of weeks to readjust.
I moved from this monster To this (my wife's 31mm DJ on my wrist for comparison and BTW, I still think it looks good on me) I could not do less than 40 though. Maybe on a leather strap, but I just couldn't do it. Again for me 40-42mm is the perfect size. |

Completely understand...come on over to the AP dark side. The 44mm is the ideal size, and it will be REALLY hard for you to go any smaller
When I put on any of my Rolex SS models, they look tiny on the wrist for sure. |

It really is a wrist size issue.

Owning many of the same models, I can relate but it's all in your mind. I love my smaller watches just as much and wouldn't trade them just because of size.

37-40mm so perfect for me even though I own 41-44mm as well. If I had to choose in the end it would be 37-40mm. I do appreciate the larger watches though and they have their place in my collection especially on weekends! Also wrist size clearly matters as mentioned and my wrist is roughly 7 1/2. Cheers all and wear whatever makes you happy! It is all subjective in the end.

A watch is more than about its size, IMO.

Wear whatever watch for a few days (or less) and it will seem like a good size. 50mm + not withstanding, unless you're a monster of a person.

Chaps
I suggest some of you come over to Spain for a week or two. Over here the rules are simple. 1. The watch case has got to be bright yellow 2. The face has got to be either blue, black or some other garish colour such as orange. 3. The hands must be even brighter and in a totally contrasting colour. 4. For men it must be 50cm across and about 15cm high. For the Senoritas, it is ok to wear something about 40cm across and a more feminine 12cm high. However it must be covered in a cluster of fake diamonds. Bracelets of all different colours are mandatory and I sits here wondering why on earth I was once worried that my Sub would stand out screaming Rolex. Believe me, the Spanish will not worry about a minor difference in size of less than 10 cm and neither should you. Regards Mick |
