Icon5 Evaluate my collection, help me decide whats next!

Decided after reading a bunch of these threads lately Id have a go at one too!

Its been about 2 years since my last acquisition, and I feel it is time once again!

First, heres what I've got so far:

IWC Mark XV- my dressiest watch, worn for special occasions
SD 16600- fun weekend watch/ vacation wear
GMT Pepsi 16710- hauls the mail... worn pretty much on a daily basis
Speedmaster pro moon watch- fun light weekend use

(never mind the Tag (first watch I bought myself in HS lol) and the Osco (great grandfathers watch, sentimental value)

As you can see I tend to prefer the SS sport models, not real big on the precious metals yet...

I have 3 potential watches in mind at the moment, really have an urge to add some vintage and have my heart set on a clean Red Sub...

Also after many years of never really understanding the Daytona craze... about 2 months ago I got the itch... bad!! I've decided on a Zenith Black dial (like the less blingy look of the Zeniths, brushed case, sub-dial placement, and the fact that they just don't make them anymore.

I have also tossed around the idea seeing that its a big birthday year for me (30 in December uggh) Would be cool to pick up a birth year watch (1984) Was thinking maybe a nice matte dial transitional sub... Any other cool '84 vintage sports watches? (matte dial preferred)

Anyways, of the 3 options what would your pick be given my current collection?

Im personally leaning towards the vintage Red Sub at the moment, about 90% certain that will be next, but will be fun to see what the board thinks!

Also if you have any suggestions on what might make a good addition I'd love to hear them!

Thanks have a great week,

I like the idea of a BY watch, will give you a nice little personal and relatable story to people so they don't try to move away from you immediately once you start talking watches

Nice collection, you have every base more or less covered. Four is the perfect number in my opinion so instead of buying one more why not trade up. I'd suggest keeping the diversity of your collection and not buying another Rolex why not instead look to trade the IwC and buy an AP15300 or AP15400 as your dress watch or alternatively buy a JLC moon phase or AC

Go for gold. As you acknowledged in your post you eventually plan to acquire some precious metal so get it out (or in) to your system forthright.

Great collection. Surprised not to see an Explorer II 42mm in there... so I voted other = 216570.

If you want classic/vintage... then it's got to be the 1655.

On your collection I would go with a birth year Sub...I know you got the SD, but to get a birth year watch would be nice sentimental watch.

Good luck with you choice...

I think you have the sport watches covered, I could see an Exp1 36mm, maybe birth year, also a classic dress watch, caltrava comes to mind. I'm also quite a fan of a blue AirKing, which could also be BY...

Great collection! A Red sub would be a fantastic addition, however, I think you have plenty of sports/divers. How about a JLC Reverso or Moonphase for a truly dressy watch?

Great collection. Why not add a DJ or DJII with a white or silver dial?

Nice collection. I would go with a Zenith - striking 10th is dressy and has a cool complication

I vote 1680 Red, for two reasons:

1. You said its what you want most.
2. I love 1680's!

I voted for the birthyear, but am thinking of a TT DJ to add some diversity.

I'd go for something different, like a JLC Reverso, Zenith El Primero, or TT Sub or GMT.

Approaching 30 this year myself and looking at the same scenario, and I keep turning towards a red sub or a nice 1675. Thinking of going to Italy anyhow for my 30th, and it would be awesome to stop by Watches In Rome and pick up that piece, but we shall see! Oh and our collections are pretty similar as well!
