Icon5 Yatchmaster

The more and more I look at the Yatchmaster the more I fall in love with it (SS/Platinum). Why is it harder to find than say a GMT II?

Maybe because you are Googling Yatchmaster instead of Yachtmaster?

Probably because it isn't in such high demand as a GMT or Sub.

First reason this.

Second reason, supply and demand. The GMT is more popular piece than the YM, IMHO.

Lol fastest answer ever.

On another note, there seems to be more blue dialed YMs on sale - perhaps the platinum dials are more sought after and are "keepers"

Vito, if you are in the market, pick an older one, the dial sparkles much more. Upgrade the clasp and you have the nicest Yacht master around.
See the pics of Jocke.

+1 on that...I recently picked up one from a few years ago for my wife. The old style dial looks really cool in the sun...a little surprised they went away from it.

So do you buy the 116622 clasp+bracelet for the upgrade?

I've got the 116622 with plat dial.

Wearing it right now.

I love this reference. Love the updates, the style and the dial.

It's a great watch.

Isn't a Yatch a sort of native dwelling?

It is a beautiful timepiece and does not get the attention it deserves. In terms of its availability, I am not certain that it is harder to obtain than the GMT Master II. The local AD's in my area sell more GMT's than YM's, but the YM is by no means harder to find as I see the YM on display (blue and platinum dials) quite often. I am sure they can order one in for you if you wanted. With respect to the used market, I cannot comment. Perhaps other forum members can help you out.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Agreed. My wife wears the midsize SS/Plat and it flies completely under the radar. Beautiful watch.
