My Red Sub Back From Rolex UK
Hi all,
It's been a while since I last posted, been eagerly awaiting the call from Rolex UK telling me my Red Sub service was completed. I got the call on Friday and travelled to London yesterday and I'm sooooo impressed with the results. Watch had stopped around 3 months ago, meaning it reallly needed looking at, turns out a screw had become lodged in the hairspring? Other parts replaced were an oscillating weight because it was cracked and the bracelet and plastic crystal. I have kept the old original 93150 bracelet and the old crystal for histories sake. Rolex tell me it's the watchs first service since 1994! The bracelet was fairly worn and Rolex could have refurbed but the "clasp horns were cracking" and they would give no guarentee on the bracelet hence why I asked for new bracelet on understanding I could keep original. The case was given a sympathetic polish and refurb and all other original parts were retained (face, hands, datewheel etc.) I am extremely pleased with the end result and now have a 34 year old rolex with a years guarentee. It's hard to believe. For those interested total cost of all work £750.36. It's a bargain!!!!!!!! I've attached a few pictures of the new improved red sub and have it proudly on my wrist at moment. |

Great watch and a great result,I have always found Rolex Bexly to be very good and helpful with the old timers not like some others worldwide.

Thanks for the kind remarks folks. I am indeed very proud to own the watch, I too was born in 1974 so it's a nice touch to own a red sub of the same vintage. If you look back some of my old posts you will see the condition the watrch was in when I purchased it last year!
Regarding the bezel I am seriously looking for a NOS Rolex bezel with the tritium dot to replace my bezel with, Rolex offered me a new bezel but I really want to try and get an original, vintage one. Should any of you know of the existence of such a part, or indeed the correct part ~ for the part I am looking for please let me know either here or by PM. Now thew dilemma for me is whether to wear the watch daily or keep it for special occassions, it's fairly irreplacable but at the end of the day it is 'just' a watch. What do you guys think? IS it a waste to box it up and use it sparingly or should it be worn with vigour and forget about the rarity and value. (bearing in mind the watc cost me much less than the price of a NEW 16610!!!!!!!!) |
