Tudor Ranger Dial

Howdy y'all...

I swung by my watchmaker today, and someone brought in (vintage, not the new model) Tudor Ranger for servicing.
My watchmaker showed me the dial, which is in perfect crisp condition, but to me it doesn't look like a genuine dial.
What do you guys think?

If it says ranger in red, it's not real.

Tudor may have made a few red rangers but it has never been verified and almost every fake ranger I see is a red these days.

If you have a ranger case and absolutely need a dial, let your conscience be your guide, but I wouldn't buy that

Thanks, it looked to good to be true, and we all know when that's the case, it usually is too good to be true. Anyone else? Thoughts?

Those fake dials have been around for many years.

That one would be an easy fake if it had no red.

I would question why your watchmaker would think that new dial was a 20-50 year old dial - even NOS.

I've seen pages from this floating around, but I don't know what the reference work is titled. It seems to picture the "RANGER" in a red font from 1975 (?) ... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Regarding the OP's dial pic, one thing not yet mentioned that wouldn't support legitimacy — my understanding is that there should never be a space between the words "OYSTER" and "DATE" (i.e., should read one word "OYSTERDATE").

Agreed, it should say OYSTERDATE, instead of OYSTER DATE. Here are pics of the watch, clearly a franken (look at the dial sporting "SELF-WINDING" sign, and then look at the movement LOL):

To me datewheel is also off, what do you guys think?

It's all bad. These fakes have been around for years and years. Don't give it a second thought
