Move from steel to gold

When you've made the move do you ever go back? My LV isn't getting any wrist time now I have a YG sub. I just love the weight of it so much. And the glint of gold I get throughout the day of course ;-)

Yes I have gone back. I traded my Sub for a DD a while back and I ended getting a DSSD to replace the Sub. I love my DD don't get me wrong but when I do some harsher activities besides desk diving I prefer steel. I don't want my DD to get super beat up

I have never tried on a precious metal rolex , never had the opportunity to try one

i love the idea of a WG Sub but i think the thoughts of it getting scratched under normal wear would freak me out

Maybe i am better off not knowing how wonderful they wear :(

Awesome trio. I think there is a place for steel in any collection.

However, I could see the challenge in going back to steel after precious metals. I'd imagine it'd be like when you get a Rolex, and any other watch just sits in the box.

Gold or not....whenever I get the next cool new thing I wanted (whatever that happens to be), the old one tends to rot.

On the other hand, I did have some gold in the repertoire in the past. At some point simply grew tired of it as my lifestyle changed and felt it was too flashy for my more relaxed mode of life. Now sporting a SS GMT BLNR. Fits me and my grey hair, blue and grey suits better.

That's a great collection. I'm considering my first YG or RG piece right now.

I traded full gold DD for YM II SS .I just care about design , color of the dial then material .
I also have BLNR and I would never trade it for something else including full gold watches because BLNR is definitely ticking all the boxes for me

Great set of watches! I love my Stainless watches! I'm not a "gold purist" like others I know here :)

I go back and forth, there are times where gold just isn't the right watch to wear.

Yep. Like 'em both equally.
Depends on the day/mood.
I still wear cheaper vintage watches, because I like 'em.

No for me. The look, feel and weight has stopped me from going back

While I much prefer gold and platinum, there's nothing wrong with SS either. It really depends on the particular watch and the use you have for it.

For me it all depends on what you want out of a watch. If, as you say, that glint of gold and/or the weight swings it for you, then there's your answer. I know we have some precious metal aficionados here, and I know we have some members that wouldn't be caught dead in a gold watch.

It's all about what you want.

By the way, super nice trio of watches you have.

Be careful. I went gold and never looked back. Slippery slope indeed.

Great collection, quite similar to mine actually. It is hard to go back to SS but then there are times when SS is more convenient and you also don't appreciate the weight of gold if you wear it all the time so the SS has that extra transitional bonus.

And let's have some more pics, please!

You can't beat gold especially yellow or rose but SS is handy for traveling and low key events.

All the time.... I'm mostly run around at work, so SS hold up better... and don't want to ding the hell out of my gold watches. Plus one I bought for special occasions only and the other for my days off. I do own a TT that I do wear to work, though.

If I didn't have to worry about beating up my precious metals, then for sure I would mostly wear them. The feel/weight is something not to be missed.

Given that you have a gold sub maybe I would flip the Lv for a blnr to round things out
