AP Marketing??

I was 1 month ago in the AP boutique in Paris, and asked to see the 15202, the lady told me that they didn't have any, that it was practically impossible to get, that they had 95 clients on waiting list, that basically they were going to have 2-3 this year, and wanted me to look at some chronos, I said I didn't want to see any other watch, she insisted, I started to turn around, and then all of a sudden she told me that they had one which was reserved that she could show me.

Does anyone know if this story of the huge waiting list and microscopic quantities delivered to AD's is true or is it just to try to make people buy other models which are not so much in demand as the 15202?

The retail price in Europe is 19.500 euros, and looking on Chrono24 I found a few BNIB for less, and of course without the waiting list, maybe it's the fact that I parked my Harley Davidson in front of the boutique, she thought I didn't know anything about watches, don't know much but still I have a little knowledge

The Jumbo is quite rare and under allocation and true you might have to wait a while to get but to say they got 95 customers on waiting list and they only gets 2-3 pcs per year sounds like something that comes out from a Cow's backside.

Why not just buy a pre-owned one from one of the well known trusted Sellers on the forum?

Think you had asked this in another thread as well. Yes, there is some game playing at Boutique--no different than what Rolex does with Daytona, etc...

However, since you're in Paris, your options are more limited than us in the US. Should be able to get 10% minimum off, just need to go do some hunting. Good luck!

Maybe try calling the AP Boutique in New York. I don't think it should be that hard to get.

Not that hard to find in the US and I'm sure the trusted sellers here have plenty at their disposal.

It's BS. Sure it's popular, but they probably didn't have a free one, and she wanted a sale.

You'll get one if you really want it and search around.

Basic marketing, supply and demand in play. Even if it's perceived it can create a sale or increase the price.

I wouldn't be surprised that there is a waiting list but 90+, I doubt that

I doubt that 95 number. Nowadays a search engine will bring many that are available for sale up. Today's buyers are internet savvy.

Well for me it's not too hard to find, I talked to 1 of my grey dealers he told me he could probably get me one for 15.500, that's 4.000 less than french retail and he didn't seem to be worried on getting one, just don't have the funds right now, am selling a few watches to lower my collection numbers, will see in November, anyways just got a Patek and have a Hulk on order so I can wait a little…

So it seems to me that the saleslady took me for an idiot, especially telling me that they should have 2-3 this year and OHHHH what a surprise she had one to show me anyways

Might be you could have walked out with the reserved one if you had pulled out a credit card. And not asked for a discout.

AP Marketing??

I've heard a lot of sales BS but claiming a 38 year wait (apprx) is ridiculous....

A man will walk on the moon by then....!!!

I have been to the AP boutique nyc twice in the last year.
1st time they had one in the case and available, second time they called me in 2 weeks to tell me they had one in for me.

So, yes, IMHO marketing BS.

I agree with you. Some boutiques try to make them too exclusive not factoring any possible loss of sales.

That would be the blue dial nautilus Then again, when comparing the 15400 to the 15202, the associate suggested I might buy the 15400 and then pick up the 15202 as an investment piece. I started laughing and said I have better investments available than that At that point the manager tried to take over the sale, but I was already one foot out the door mentally.
