It's got to be a 40mm. However, I do have other makes that are smaller.

Big wrist and ex-panerai wearer so less than 40 feels too small

Depends on the watch and purpose, but 40mm is my maximum.

I'm assuming you mean case size rather than the actual dial diameter......but I like all 3 sizes you have listed. I have gotten to the point where I really don't care for anything larger than 40mm and just won't wear it really. I have the Black Bay and Pelagos, but I really don't wear either one primarily because of size.

This.

I could make an exception for a 41mm DDII.

X2.

Voted for 36mm. Now of my attention over the past few years have been directed to the Rolex Professional Series watches, but if I were to keep only one watch in my current collection , it would be my Datejust 16234. My grail is the Day-Date 118238. Both are 36mm and are classics in their own right. Not a fan of anything over 42mm.

Expat - I sense you're more into your vintage watches? Personally I couldn't wear anything smaller than 39mm but I have large wrists.

The Air King is 34mm. I wear mine every day, and have 7.25 inch wrists. I think it looks pretty good.

Do you prefer older models though? I'd love my next rolex to be a vintage piece or a birth year watch..I currently just have a 214270 explorer.

My Air King is a birth year 1964, and also have a 2005 Air King. I'm not a vintage nut but do like them. Most of mine are 2000 to 2008. Got a 1966 DJ, 1977 Oysterquartz too.

It depends entirely on the watch and the size of a person's wrist.

My wrist seems to have shrunk to about 7.5 now from about 7.75.

40mm is as about as big as any watch needs to be, but a 40mm dress watch looks ridiculous.

Op do you mean case or dial size. A 40mm dial would be like a 44mm case.

I voted 36mm. My DJ feels lighter than my Sub & if I were to choose a size to wear daily, would be a 36. If we are talking Rolex specifically, I wont go over 40mm because would look ridiculous on me. And I have to avoid the Maxi case also for that reason, just too square.

I wear anything from 36 to 47mm.
I like many sizes and styles for different occasions.
I find thickness and lug length to be a far bigger issue than width.

At 40mm, my GMTII seems the perfect size for me. I also have a 36mm DJ and think it looks fine as well. So....would not want to go any smaller or larger than this 36-40mm range.

40MM I used to think 36mm was perfect but it wasn't "heavy" enough for me so I went 40mm and now I'm never looking back.

I really like 40mm. However my DJ II works well for me also. I'm considering a Exp 2 and that would probably be my max. I have large wrist though.
