Take Rolex on Cruise to Bermuda???

Curious to get some feedback on whether or not you would recommend taking my Rolex on a cruise? Leaving tomorrow afternoon out of Cape Liberty, NJ to Kings Warf Bermuda. 5 nights, back early Thursday morning.

What's your opinion on taking Rolexes on cruises in general?

And I've never been to Bermuda before - what are your thoughts on wearing it while checking out the island.

I'm torn between taking the watch I love, my 2004 GMT-Master "Coke", or just taking one of my gargbage watches so I don't have to worry about it.

Ah come on!
What's with all these threads?
I take my Rolex to shady bars in alleys in China, I think you can take it on a big, safe cruise ship.
What's with all of these threads "Can I take it here?"?

On a cruise ship? I doubt you will be in danger there. Bigger danger is fighting for space in line at the buffet or getting a seat at the Ventriloquist show.

It was more of a "would you" question than a "can you"...

I'm not worried about getting beat over the head for it while on the ship, but I have never been to Bermuda and have no clue if this would attract any unwanted attention if you know what I mean.

Take the Rolex. Why would you worry about it?

The frequency of these threads have me thinking most Rolex owners are having their Rolex owning and wearing them.

I never see this with any other luxury brand watches being brought up????

Probably because Rolex are easily recognized and targeted more than most other brands.

Sigh. Just like anyplace else in the world, be aware if your surroundings.

You will be one of about 80% of that boat wearing a nice watch.

It is a watch, why would you not take it?

What did you buy it for?

The only good reason I can think of to leave your Rolex at home is if you plan to buy another one during your trip (customs reasons). There are great places to buy watches in the Caribbean and at attractive prices too!

His is 10 years old. I'm sure he would not have customs issues.

Absolutely, you'll be one of a few hundred wearing a Rolex anyway.
Bermuda is great too, haven't been there in years though. As long as you don't have one too many at the swizzle inn before getting on a moped you'll be as safe as can be!

If you were going to certain countries in the Caribbean it probably wouldn't be a good idea to take it, but I think you will be fine in Bermuda. Also, there will be a safe in your stateroom to store it should you need to. Enjoy your cruise, I'm hoping to go on my next one in November.

I have always worn a Rolex in Bermuda. It's a place full of wonderful people.
I've never had any issues and have always been met with a great deal of courtesy.
Check out Crisson's in downtown Hamilton. They're the AD for Rolex. I got a great deal on my wife's DJ back in 2005.
Enjoy your trip

You can wear a Rolex anywhere. It should be insured anyway. I wear my Rolex everyday without thought into both good and bad parts of my surrounding areas. If something unfortunate happens and it is taken, lost, or stolen, it is just a thing and can be replaced. If you spend all day living in fear of scratches, losing your watch, etc you will never enjoy it. Please stop with these threads.

Great. Thanks for the feedback guys (and gals). Like I said, new to Bermuda. I've been to several places in the Carribean and a few of those I would not wear it. It is insured so my issue is not with the value. I just wanted to make sure Bermuda was not the kind of place where unwanted attention would be brought on us possible exposing the wife and I to a robbery, assault, etc.

Thanks also for the feedback on places to visit while there. If you have any other suggestions I'd love the hear them.

Other than visiting a beach or two and checking out the old part of St. George, we really don't have anything else on the agenda at the moment.
