Rolex springbar question.

I'm the type that likes to change things up from time to time. I like putting on Nato / leather straps on my sub.

I also like to swap it back to its original bracelet as well.

Question is: what's the lifespan of springbars since I change things up quite often. Does rsc replace them for free at service? Or should I request for it? Is there a charge?

Would like to have a bit of peace in mind as the whole watch would fall off if the springbars fail.

Ask for them to be replaced at each service. Better yet, buy a bunch of replacements if you plan to change straps that often... They tend to get scratched up with each strap change.

Spring-bar failure is not common if they are routinely checked and changed. There is no set time-frame that they will last but should easily last between service calls if you are on the 5 year schedule. Springbars get worn by the constant friction at the connection on the older style hollow end-links. It is very uncommon for modern SEL spring bars to exhibit that sort of wear, but they will rust internally if not kept clean and break from excessive corrosion.

I have never paid for new spring-bars when they are replaced at service; if they charge it would be less than 20 bucks. I still keep a bag of spares in the drawer . Simply check them for wear or corrosion once a year or so, replace if necessary, and you are unlikely to ever have a failure..

I swap nato straps almost daily. The real test to the spring bar is how often you remove them to reinstall the bracelet or other two piece straps. As long as you go from one nato to another, there's no need to remove the bars. Just food for thought.

I see replacement bars at Ofrei and Esslinger but have not found any information regarding which ones to order for my 214270 and 216570. I've been playing with installing various leather straps and would like some backup spring bars. Can someone guide me to a resource showing the proper reference numbers? Thanks!
