Why You Flip Your Rolex?
Hi, I just want to know why we flip our Rolex? How many time you already do that? Can you tell me the reason? Maybe because they not really your type or you need fresh money to get another model?
Me, already sold three watches. I sold my Panerai 112H because I don't really like the model, beside that I need fresh money to buy Explorer II. And I sold my GMT Master 1675 to bought my LV. The reason is vintage is not my thing., I'm a Brand New Type Of Guy. And the last I sold my Explorer II (yeah I know...) to get Sub ND COSC brand new M serial. I just crazy about Subs. Can you give your reason here why you flip your Rolex? Please your reply here. Thanks Guys!!! Best Regards, TR. |

I personally have never flipped both my Rolex watches and never will because they are both special and sentimental to me. I usually buy to own in the long run so I really make sure I want something first before I buy.
I believe that people flip watches though to do what you have done. Use the money they receive from it towards another watch. I think thats the gist of it. It can be for several reasons, they really want another watch, maybe they no longer wear the watch they want to sell, or it can be like their own little business, etc. TR, sorry to hear you sold your Explorer II. I may be biased but it is still my favorite model in the sports line to be honest. Hope it found a nice new home!

Yeah Jerome, really hard decision. But after think and re-think Expy II is not my thing too. I like the model, I really do. But I can't hold my desire to Subs. Beside that me Expy is the pre-owned watch. I sold it to buy a new Sub ND COSC. Never regret it I hope. I sold it to my Brother BTW.

I only flip when I receive a juicy offer, and then use those funds to purchase another.

Same thing here. I have saved for Rolex watches, too, but most of the times I have flipped a Rolex to get another one. It's happened 22 times since 1989.

I usually flip to buy another watch. I am not at the point in my life financially where I can accumulate watches. Some day though :)

I had purchased an Oyster Date on impulse because the AD was going out of business and I got a smokin' deal. But after wearing it for a couple weeks, I just could not get used to how insubstantial it felt. My buddy bought it from me, and that was my first Rolex I flipped. Hope to get a COSC 14060M now. I usually flip my watches that never get any wrist time.

I'm not a flipper yet.
TR, you need to change your sig line to match up your current stable of watches!

I get tired of watches pretty quickly....like within a few months. Everything I buy now, I buy with the knowledge that one day I'll be tired of it and I will sell it. So, I buy as carefully as I can price-wise, because I prefer to flip at a profit rather than a loss.

Flip because I get bored, or do not quite like the watch when I get home.

I had issues in bonding with my Sea-Dweller. So, off it had to go. Same day I went to my AD...and did the worst thing possible - tried on the TT GMTIIC...and fell in love.
In an instant I said bye to my older 16710, and now I'm a happy camper. It has been well over three months since I got the IIC and they are both STILL singing their sweet music...so I'm a happy camper!
