My only Rolex 5513
Attached is a picture of my first Rolex. It is a 5513 serial number 1382336. I bought it from a friend of mine who wore it daily for the last 30 years or so. It has a few problems like a flake off the dial at the 57-58 mark, the bezel is cracked above the insert hole and has a couple chips in the same area making the bezel not fully seat at the top. Also the crown does not screw down as far as I think it should. I still love the watch and enjoy learning more about it. Any information you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like a redial to me. Plus part of the hour hand looks missing?

Hard to tell much from that one photo but the dial looks like a redial and is done in the layout of a 5512. Is 5513 stamped between the lugs? Additional photos of the case sides, crown guards, as well as the back and bracelet would help, and you should get more feedback from the members....Oh and welcome.

The hour hand is all there, but the picture does make it look like part of it is missing. It is my understanding the watch is from around 1966. My friend has owned it since the mid 1980's. He did not have it redialed, but it certainly could have been redialed before he got it. As to the lugs being overpolished, I am sure they probably are. I really have nothing to compare them to. 5513 is stamped between the lugs.

5513 between the lugs ??
5513's were two liners, not four ! So, its al least a redial for some reason. This is a 5513 original to compare.

I'm not sure if it's the angle of your picture, but the top left and bottom right lug look quite polished.

Welcome to the 5513 club!
Your crown is screwed down all the way and is correct. There is a "bevel" on the inside edge that makes it look as though it doesn't.... I thought the same thing till I checked out several other watches. My "feet first" says "hello"......

Welcome. It looks like the end links aren't correct either. They look like solid end links, so the bracelet is probably aftermarket. Are there numbers stamped on the end links or the links of the bracelet? How does the clasp look?

That's not an original Rolex dial (just so you know) may be aftermarket, or re-done.
The bracelet isn't the correct bracelet, looks a bit as an aftermarket one. Just so you know.

I should have previously mentioned that I am aware that the bracelet is not Rolex/original. Thanks for all the comments and information.

If the rest of the watch is good, it might just be a matter of finding a correct dial and wearing it on a NATO strap.
