Bracelet comfort

Guys, can you tell me if there is much difference in the fit/feel of a Submariner 16610LV and a 116610?

I really love the look of the LV but don't have one locally and I'm not sure (with my funny wrist size) if I'll get the fit I want without the Glidelock.

Any thoughts?

Speaking from experience-I've had the 16610 and 14060m, and now have the Sub 114060 with new glide lock clasp:

Is one more comfortable than the other on my 7-7.5" wrist? No. They both wear wonderfully to me. The only advantage to the glide lock is the ease of adjustment on the fly, but with a 6.5" wrist you're going to have to have some removable links taken out before you will be able to effectively adjust the glide lock. I had two links removed from my 114060 the day I bought it.

I have a 16610 and a 116610LV with about a 7" wrist and I can tell you they are both awesome, but for a smaller wrist the 16610 is definitely more comfortable mostly because of the case though. However with an 8"+ wrist I seriously doubt the 116610 will give you any issues.

The gliselock clasp is the most beneficial feature of the new 116610. It gives you far more ability to micro adjust for comfort

The new bracelets changed the game for guys with small wrists, offering more removable links. With your wrist size you can get a perfect fit with the old bracelet, but the new ones are really nice so I think you should try before you make your mind. As Brian said above, the Glidelock clasp is awesome.

I actually already have a 116618LN so I know that the Gridlock is epic - I just don't have a 16610 to hand. Trying to find out if I will be able to get as good a fit and comfort level.

Went from a 14060M to 116610LN. HATED the bracelet on the 14060M (6.5" wrist) as it just wouldn't fit right no matter what I did short of taking out a permanent link. Got the 116610 and it has two additional removable links than the older bracelets did and the difference was night and day. The bracelet on my 116610 ended up being things dreams are made of for a small wristed guy like myself. YMMV.

Glidelock is slightly more comfortable due to its ability to make minor adjustments.

Having owned both I prefer the fit of the older bracelet and I have a smaller wrist. However one thing that I found with the newer bracelet is that the half link is no longer on the 6 oclock side, its on the 12 oclock side as the last link before the glidelock. I found taking that and moving it to the 6 oclock side like on the older bracelets got me a much better fit on the SubC.

The 116610 will wear a little heavier than the 16610 but I have both and both are super comfy when you get the bracelets adjusted just right.
As it's been written above, the Glidelock system is a bonus when making minor adjustments to the 116610 during the day on the go.

The newer bracelet with glidelock is night and day more comfortable for me...for you, I don't know. As Flavio said, make sure you try before you buy.

Small wrist here and much prefer the glidelock. I also think the ceramic sub might be a better fit for you.

I have had both versions of the sub, the glide lock is much more comfortable in my opinion.

Seeing your current collection I'd stick with the 116610 over the 16610.
The 16610 pressed metal clasp might dig in a little on a large wrist and you'll probably have to add an extra link too.

With your collection I'd go for a 116610LV , I'll think you'll be a lot happier.

The folding clasp on the glide lock feels so much better on the wrist then the pressed metal.

Do you not prefer the look of the 16610LV though? The contrast of the green and the black as apposed to being all green?

Can you fit a new bracelet to a 16610? That's the ideal! ;)

No, you cannot put a modern 116610 bracelet on a 16610, endlinks won't fit, the case shapes are different.

However, you could change clasps.


I think one thing no one has mentioned is that the new bracelets are SOLID mid links, which, IMO, is very important to comfort since it helps balance out the weight of the watch unlike the prior 16610 bracelets/stamped clasps.

I have a 16610 and also a 114060 with the glidelock, I find the modern more weight balanced bracelet on the 114060 more comfortable and wear the 16610 usually on a nato.

I'm sorry but YES you can interchange both bracelets on either watch. You can hardly tell the end links apart. It's a perfect fit either way

I've got both of them and i prefer the 116610LV. The green dial will change to almost black at certain angles, it's nice.

Yes the 97200 bracelet will fit the 16610 but with the glide lock it just looks and feels disproportionate

Glidelock bracelet definitely feels like an improvement in terms of overall design and build, though with trial and error you can still get a nice fit with the older bracelets. Both look pretty good!

I had a 116710 and never really felt I got a 100% good fit with the easy link. It was either too tight (especially when the wrist swells) or too loose (that it would slam the back of my hand) which is unfortunate because most people don't have issues. I now have a 16710 which I removed a permanent link and fits well but the clasp isn't centered with the watch so when the clasp is centered on the underside of my wrist the watch is pushed up towards the 12 o clock side. I'm debating trying the 116600 since it wears small and has a glidelock...
