Buy or not?
I'm contemplating buying a one-owner 2005 Rolex Explorer I with all papers and box. The watch was regularly cleaned by a jeweler, but has never been pressure tested or oiled. Price is an even $3,000.

Addition. Condition of the watch is 8.75 or 9 out of 10.

When you say cleaned, I don't assume you mean serviced? If not, it would be important to factor in the purchase the cost of a service, around $600.

You are correct. The cleaning was external - watch head and bracelet.

Only you can decide if it's the watch that you want to buy..

I do like the watch, but I'm interested in knowing if it's worth the investment considering I'll probably have to pay for a complete service if I buy it.

Why ? If it has been used sparingly and taken good care of you can hold off on any service until it either breaks or you just feel like it's gone long enough. There is no magic date that they go stale.

If it's in decent shape that is a great price.

If it's all good as it appears, that is indeed a very good price.
